“East west beach”
Reviewed November 17, 2013

I am biased being a local, but the western end of the beach is delightful being not so crowded with tourists and just around the corner is the famous Doggie Beach. All the locals take the pooches here for interaction and play so be warned if you don't like dogs, don't bring your kids here. Stay on Main Beach, where there are life guards and no dogs. Main beach is renowned for Dumpers, so be carefully of the waves, and always swim between the flags. " Hey Bill" is an iconic feature on the beach, he sells cold drinks and slushies from a tractor train going up and down the beach.

“World's Best Beach (but not in peak Tourist Time)!!!”
Reviewed November 16, 2013

After enjoying Noosa Main Beach every year since 1991 I would like others to know just how good it is. Just one proviso, not go in peak tourist season!!

We usually spend a month a year in Winter, so we have a beautiful beach with plenty of room. We have also vacationed here in Spring and Autumn. Forget the height of Summer: too many people, too hot, too humid.

The beach faces North, so swells are low to non existent most of the time but the famous Points to come to life with great surf occasionally.

Safety was important for us initially with two kids along for the trip, so the beach was perfect.

Other features that make Main Beach so good are: The Surf Club for eats and drinks, the Boardwalk, Hey Bill, the National Park, the adjoining West Beach etc etc

“Noosa not for me”
Reviewed November 15, 2013

When invited to a family wedding at Noosa I was fearful that I would be trapped in a soulless tourist village of commercialism. For someone who prefers a cultural experience in southeast Asia or an untouched Pacific island, Noosa was not my cappuccino. The buildings were modern and without taste and every second shop was selling overpriced clothes or tourist items. Large coffee shops spilled onto the beach creating a replica of inner city Sydney that I had wished to escape from.
On a positive side, it seemed a place for families who were orderly and well-behaved. The local Queenslanders, were, as Queenslanders are, friendly and helpful. Of an evening, it closed down early, there were no pubs with drunks wondering the streets and no "bikie" gangs.
I had been to Noosa in 1965 and there was a general store with a petrol pump. A shop that sold shells and nothing else but a caravan park. I shared the caravan park with a group of gypsies who resided in their horse-drawn gypsy caravan. How the world has changed.
There are many lovely beaches, fishing villages and townships along the thousands of miles of the east coast between Sydney and Cooktown and I'd recommend somewhere else.

“Just superb”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

Love this beach it is just beautiful. Great for families with young children as it is protected and has much smaller waves then your regular large open beaches so if your like me and love to swim in the ocean but hate the large strong rolling surf waves this is the beach for you.
