Description: Wasabi restaurant & bar, overhanging the scenic Noosa River, opposite the Noosa Recreation Reserve, is the brainchild of owner and Young Restaurateur of the Year Award recipient Danielle Gjestland. The entirely waterfront dining space has spectacular river views with amazing sunset vistas by day and a warm, contemporary, intimate dining space by night. Voted Queensland's #1 regional restaurant for the 2015 Good Food Guide, awarded two chefs hats, listed in Gourmet Travellers top 100 restaurants, and voted Queensland's Hottest Restaurant in the Australians Hot 50 List, Wasabi's food has a contemporary sensibility that is still deep rooted in Japanese purity.

Consistently excellent Japanese food. We had the 9 courses set menu and our only concern was there was almost too much food. Great location, expert cooking by Zeb and kitchen team and faultless service. Pricey but worth it.

“The best Japanese”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2014 via mobile

Simply the best Japanese food we have had and probably meal compared with many Michelin starred restaurants around the world.

Go all out for the Omakase Chefs 9 course menu and try something different. Each course was amazing with tastes, textures and combinations like nothing else.

The other tasting menu looked good if not feeling too adventurous but was standard sushi, sashimi, tempura style but obviously very well done.

Cocktails are amazing too especially the Lychee.

In Summer the ferry runs till late and can drop you off right outside on their pontoon.

It's higher priced but well worth it. Don't hesitate book this restaurant.

“Classy Japanese food overlooking river”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 29, 2013 via mobile

The evening started well with a phone call to confirm in the afternoon and asking if we would like to come slightly later to get a waterside table, which we accepted, a nice touch.
A good cocktail menu kicked us off with an espresso martini and ice cold asahi at the bar. We chose the 'bit of everything' menu as opposed to the 9course degustation and enjoyed superb sashimi, scrumptious sushi and tasty tempura. The gyoza was gentle and delicious and the final course of wagyu certainly left us feeling delightfully full.

A great meal and the short walk back to Hastings St in the warm air was perfect to aid digestion and feel very satisfied.

“Premier dining in Noosa”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 20, 2013 via mobile

We had heard positive things about this restaurant and were frankly surprised just how good a restaurant outside of a capital city could actually be. This would have to be one of our best dining experiences ever and that includes here in Australia or overseas.

The 7 course degustation meal was great value when looking at the quality of the ingredients and each course was further accentuated by opting for the accompanying beverage package.

If you're looking for something special in the Noosa area then this restaurant should be on the list of restaurants to visit during your stay.

“Best sashimi ever!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2013 via mobile

I always think you can rate a Japanese restaurant by the quality of its sashimi and the sashimi at wasabi is possibly the best I've ever had. We opted for the wakeru menu on the advice of our knowledgable waiter, James. Each course was a taste sensation ( mainly seafood). The knife skills of the chefs are very much in evidence which makes a huge difference in Asian cuisine where there are big flavours and a little is usually enough. The flavours were perfectly balanced in each mouthful.
Quibble, we thought the spatchcock was a little dry having been deboned and made into a sausage and then presumably poached and fried. We had matching wines with each course and while some were new to us we were surprised to find a couple we have bought at the bottle shop recently. We would have preferred more unusual ones with a tasting menu. This is a special occasion place, the lighting is great and we had a lovely table beside the water which is lit up at night. The downside was that it took an hour for us to get a taxi home because of a wedding next door.
