“Not a Bush Turkey....”
Reviewed November 13, 2011

We recently stayed at The Outrigger in a two bed penthouse for a long weekend. The room itself was amazing, and can't complain about any aspect of this at all - really spacious, clean, nice outlook. Staff were all really friendly and helpful and we would go back. The only negatives about this hotel are: the main pool is too small for a hotel this size, check out time of 10am is far too early for a five star hotel, the food at breakfast and room service was pretty poor. I think the pizza we had was possibly the worst pizza I have ever eaten..!
Although not right on Hastings Street, the location is good if you don't want to be right in the thick of things. The walk up the hill really isn't too bad, we had a one year old with us, and never seemed to time it right for the buggy.

Thank you for the wonderful comments about the apartment and our staff service, they are certainly appreciated. I feel obliged to comment about the 10am departure; with no intention of being cynical, it would be wonderful for any property, five star or otherwise, to have housekeeping achieve turnaround of a 200 room stock ready for guest arrival (many wishing to have early check in given it is a resort) in less than four hours. I am grateful for what they achieve now but will always look to do better. Maybe we look at Australian Labour Laws so we can achieve the three staff to one room ratios of our Asian neighbours, alternately, here in Australia raise room rates six fold to achieve similar staffing levels – OK, maybe that was a little cynical. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the stay, hope we see you back soon and I will definitely be doing something about the pizza.

We recently had a 6 night stay at the resort and loved it, definitely will be back. Nestled in the beautiful Rain forest setting, just either a short walk up the hill or a buggy ride depending on the mood we were in. We had a great, well appointed 3 bedroom apartment that supplied our family of 6 with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Also the assistance of the very friendly and helpful staff made this a great break.

The wonderful comments very much appreciated by our staff. I also copy them through to our owners so they too may reflect on the response to their product here at Outrigger Little Hastings Street Resort & Spa. Noosa. We are indeed privileged to offer such beautiful accommodation and are thrilled it met with your needs so well. Look forward to welcoming you back.

Spent 4 nights here after purchasing a Living Social Deal. The resort is brand new and nestled in the Rainforest but only a 500 metre walk to Hasting Street and if you are lazy they have a free buggy service that drops you off and picks you up from Hastings Street. The rooms are excellent and kitchenette is equipped enough to cook and the little fridge cold enough to freeze food (we have a Toddler). They even have filtered water in the rooms so we did not have to worry about buying stacks of bottled water. The breakfast is pretty good, I have had better but we are picky when it comes to breakfast but for the average punter it has everything you need. The View restuarant has top shelf food and whilst I am not an a-la-carte person the food was well worth it. Many of the rooms don't have ocean views, in fact our room had a view of another apartment but we did not care as we got it at a great rate and we dont go on vacation to sit in our room all day. The free Coffee at Breakfast is terrible and I think instant but you can buy espressos and they only have free instant coffee in the rooms but they do have a plunger so bring your own coffee. The pool is not heated so it is pretty cold. Take it from a seasoned traveller that this place is very good, I have stayed in better but it is hard to complain about anything except the coffee and if you read any really bad review it is most likely a whinging pom.

Coffee. Coffee is everything and if we failed to provide a great cup of coffee I extend my sincere apologies. We are certainly focussing on a coffee culture within the property and I would welcome any feedback in the regard. The VIEW restaurant is a venue we continue to develop and the team is grateful for the feedback on food and service. Quick feedback on the other two matters mentioned; pools are heated to 26 degrees which is always contentious across the opinions of guests; some too hot, some too cold. The other is in reference to ocean views for the benefit of others reading reviews. The property is positioned well back in the National Park with only a few Villa and Penthouses having views over the bay. Predominantly all apartments are within the village either facing into the resort or out over the National Park itself.

we had 3 nights last weekend in a one bedroom suite, which was fantastic, had everything we needed, plenty of room, great balcony overlooking park, which on checking in we didn't have despite my prior email requesting so, but we were changed if we wished to wait an hour for it to be cleaned, which we were glad we did, much more private than those looking out to driveway. Loved the buggy service but agree with others, would be better to be more readily available, we usually 'just' missed it. Only negative were the pillows as someone else says and bathroom lighting was terrible. Friends came from Gold Coast to visit and loved it so much they are planning a weekend visits asap, they couldn't get in due to Noosa triathlon same weekend as us. All staff were very friendly and helpful, especially guy on reception and buggy driver!
ate at the View one night when it was raining & we didn't fancy walk to Hastings St, it was exceptional, got the $20 specials and they were both fantastic. Breakie was ample and nice each morning too. No problem getting pool lounges despite resort booked out, pool bar was only open for a short time though, closed about 2.30pm one day which I thought a bit early. Pool was lovely.
would love to go back with group of friends and get a 3 bed apartment, wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, loved the privacy and location!

Room Tip: ask for park view in Pacific section, closer to pools, reception, restaurant.

The Noosa Tri weekend certainly showed off what Noosa is capable of; what a spectacular event. We hope both of you find a weekend that suits soon and look forward to welcoming you back. The 3 Bedroom Tree Top Villas and the 3 Bedroom Penthouses are indeed stunning accommodation; with the tree house effect of full length opening balcony doors over the National Park or expansive views over the Bay respectively, you only need choose what type of weekend getaway our after – maybe one the first time, the other the next.

My family stayed in this resort three days ago. They built the place like a neighborhood with small units linked to each other by outdoor corridors and bridges. But it preserves the privacy for each room. Our room, actually a small home was a suite with fully-equipped living room, kitchen and a bedroom with doubled bed . We had everything we need for our long stay in the resort. The view in the bedroom heads straight to the sea. We also had a private swimming pool right out of the terrace of our room. It was a great pleisure spending our times with each other in private and watching the sunset every evening. :)

Thank you so much for the comments. Indeed, the village atmosphere is exactly what the developer had intended. With a five minute walk down (seven back) to the buzz of Hastings Street and the Beach, the Resort takes full advantage of the peaceful tree house type style nestled back in the Noosa National Park. We look forward to your return.

We stayed in a three bedroom villa which was very well appointed. Great villa! Service was also great. Only downside is that it's a 15 minute walk to Hastings Street...a nice walk down the hill but not up the hill. They do provide a buggy service but times for this service were not all day. If they just ran this service all day from 8am to 10pm, or something like that....it would be a non issue. Would still recommend it even with this reservation.

Many thanks for your comments. Ironically, in only recently having changed the buggy to scheduled times, we appear to have met far more of our guest expectations. We maintain the buggies onsite during peak demand for check in, check out and then schedule for the small hill run to Hastings Street so guests can time their trip and return. It appears from what we have learnt that there was more issue in waiting the few minutes to run down to pick up guests after they had called than if guests were advised when it was running and they could arrange to be there at those times. Anyway, we are open to review the scheduling at all times and your feedback certainly helpful as we continue to enhance our guest experience. Look forward to welcoming you back soon.

We booked using a Living Social voucher. However, the 2 bed with full kitchen was not given to us, instead we got a 2 bed with a kitchenette. With a toddler and pre-schooler, it was just too small, besides the fact that it was not what we paid for. We complained and were upgraded to the correct room the next day. Annoying to have happened but conceirge helped us move. The original kitchenette room was 4404 in the 'Sunrise Penthouses' block and was dark and cold feeling. The 'view' was of the bush hill and even in the middle of the day we needed all the lights on. It didnt feel like we were on a beach holiday.

However, we moved to 7311 in the Sands block. It was overlooking the internal road but much much brighter. As far as the blocks go, choose one on the west side, or looking over the internal road on the west side of an east block, as the east side of the east block is very dark.

The room was sensational, huge island bench with stools, full kitchen, large lounge. Sofa was only a 2 seater and not comfortable. Had a sterio with ipod docking station and DVD. Flat scream tv's in lounge, main room and kids room! Loved the ensuite, very deep spa tub and walk in shower with luvers. We had two balcony's, none got full on sun, but were pleasant and do offer some privacy. The best part is that even though its an apartment, it is still serviced daily!!

As far as the resort goes, fantastic. The staff were outstanding, every single one of them.

The Pool - two pools, only used the main one. Its a little cold but very nice setting if you ignore the occaisional car/truck coming past as its located near reception/entry. Has a little kids shallow part which was great. The pool bar was open on sunday and servied great drinks and delievered food from the restaurant. The major dissapointment with the pool was the very slippery wood deck surrounding the pool. Our toddler must have slipped over a dozen times when the wood gets wet. The staff member in the bar says it happens all the time but her cries as being ignored by management. I spoke to the general manager and he said he was going to get it fixed?? We had to lay towels out on the wood to stop her from slipping.

The store/bottle shop - was a nice surprise, had the basics plus a few extras like toys and hats.

The View restaurant - we had a voucher as part of the Living Social deal so dined for dinner plus the buffet breakfast. The dinner menu was nice, a bit fancy and could have been more basic fare. The service was outstanding, particularly by Michelle. The kids portions were huge, def only one between 2 would suffice. The breakfast buffet was amazing! Everything you could imagine plus more. Loved it. Staff always brought out pencils and colouring pages for the kids.

The location - was ok. It was away from the busy part of Noosa, but not too far. The buggy will take you down and back - at allocated times only. So you need to time your trip carefully if you want to get buggy both ways, otherwise you'll be walking back up the hill. We got caught out a few times and had to push the pram with 2 kids back up the hill, which wasnt too bad, kind of needed to walk off dinner anyway. The buggy allows prams, they just sit them on the front seat, no need to collapse it!! Bush turkeys were everywhere and entertaining for the kids.

Stephanies Spa - omg, amazing, totally amazing. Definately worth a visist, only annoyed that l didnt go on the first day so that l could return, l saved it for the last day. It has the most amazing 'tranquility lounge' to relax in first before your treatment and after to enjoy a free herbal tea or sorbet. The 1 hour massage was truly bliss. Everything is done to ensure you are truly relaxed, loved it!

Games room - great if its raining!! Just need to take $1 or $2 coins.

Overall, it a great place for the fact that it is apartments but has all the benefits of a hotel. If they hadnt of stuffed up our apartment to being with l'd say it would have been faultless.

Room Tip: be careful as you want to avoid an apartment on the east side of the east block, its dark. While so...
