“Great place to stay”
Reviewed May 13, 2012

Lovely old picture theatre converted to units. Retain the old world charm. Have stay there twice and will go back. We stayed in the dress circle which has 2 bedrooms each with a queen size bed. The place is clean and very cosy and the owners Mary and Graham Morris are very friendly and good at advising on places to see. The place is in a good location with a good supermarket within walking distance and just round the corner from the pub which makes great meals. However there is a fully equip kitchen if you wish to cook yourself. Great place would highly recommend it.

We were very happy with this little place. We booked it because it appeared to have character and charm, which it did! We stayed in the Projection Room, three bedrooms which suited us as we have two teenagers who like some space! The apartment was lovely, with movie posters on the walls adding to the atmosphere! The linen was luxurious - I enjoyed sleeping in these beds! There was everything we needed, including a dishwasher and all the kitchen essentials. The owner was very friendly, recommending an afternoon swim in the Big Brook Dam as it was very warm when we arrived! We acted on his recommendation and enjoyed a lovely dip in a beautiful location! The only downside was the upstairs bedroom was not airconditioned, although it did have a fan, and it was quite warm on what was a hot summers day. It was well located, a short stroll to shops and restaurants - we enjoyed dinner in the Pemberton Hotel! We would definitely come back again!

Stayed for one night in this lovely 2 bed apartment. We stayed in the Dress Circle which had a queen sized bed in each room. One bathroom, lovely little kitchenette and nice comfy couches in the living room. We were offered a couple of DVD's for the night if we wanted them.

Would definitely stay there again !!!

Room Tip: There are only 4 apartments and each have different layouts .. so make sure you choose the right one...

We stayed here from 26th til 28th August for a romantic weekend away without the kids & to celebrate my 30th birthday.
We stayed in The Stage apartment which was (obviously) the original stage of the Picture Theatre.
It was very reasonable at $190 per night which included late checkout, local wine (which was so nice we bought some more from the bottle shop), chocolates, and fluffy bathrobes to use with the spa.

There is a spa in this split level apartment in its own room which is built into the theatre stage, a bedroom, lounge area, kitchen, dining area, bathroom & seperate toilet.
This was the perfect size for two people and has reverse cycle air con to keep warm in the cooler evenings.

There are DVDs for use in the reception (mainly older ones) or you can hire DVDs from the General Store to watch.

The host, Graham was very nice and friendly, recommending local places to see & where to eat. (Sadie's at Gloucester Motel up the road does a really nice smorgasboard meal)

Overall, we really enjoy going to Pemberton, having been there a few different times, it is a very relaxing place, and we thouroughly enjoyed our weekend at The Old Picture Theatre Apartments, we loved using our private spa and will definatly return to stay here again.

Room Tip: Book early as all of the other apartments were also booked out when we stayed here

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at The Old Picture Theatre in Pemberton. I booked The Stage, and from time of arrival to departure everything was lovely.
The room itself was spotlessly clean, bed was great and the spa in it's own room was a delight. All the little extra touches were there. The history of the building has been retained and is fabulous.
The folder of info left for guests to read was one of the best I have ever seen as it covered everything. The continental breakfast basket ,whilst containing not a huge range, was certainly adequate.
At the back of the rooms is a lovely yard area, with a BBQ for guest use and an 8 person spa to use.
The location was fantastic, just a two minute stroll to the main street. The owners were very pleasant and helpful, and did not intrude at all.
The only downside we had was on the first night we had very noisy neighbours, but this was in no way the fault of the property. Just maybe thin walls!!
I would certainly recommend this as a place to stay and we will be back.

The owner of this converted property is very friendly and so knowledgeable about the local area.
The apartments themselves are steeped in history, and are well furnished and well-equipped. They are conveniently located at the centre of Pemberton - with the Tramway and the Gloucester Tree a short distance away. Pemberton itself is a bit of a 'one-horse' town, but is in such a beautiful area of Australia.
Well-worth a visit.
