“Impressive!”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

Just spent 3 nights at Big Brook Cottages, our second visit and just as impressive as our first. Has to be one of the best appointed and most comfortable holiday cottages we've stayed in. The location is beautiful, opposite karri forest, ideal for walks or bike rides, and the gardens that surround the cottages are truly lovely...no wonder the wrens, robins, parrots, honey eaters etc. are so prolific. Very peaceful and relaxing stay...wish it could have been longer.

Pauline and Mike from Perth

This accommodation exceeded our expectations. The cottage was beautifully clean, almost like new, with a lovely homely feel. After a four hour drive we felt completely reenergized after putting our feet up for a little while. We loved the 4x4 track through the forest, entrance to this was almost opposite the entrance to cottages. The owners were lovely, inviting us to help ourselves to the vegetable patch positioned just in front of the office. I highly recommend the chives! It was so impressive and value for money I am going to book again in the next few weeks, fingers crossed it is available for a midweek break.

My girlfriend and I spent 3 nights at one of the cottages late December 2012. We arrived on a hot day (around 40C in Pemberton) and upon arriving put the air cond on, sat down on the sofa and looked out at the beautiful, vibrant and well maintained gardens with tall karri forest in the background. We thoroughly enjoyed the natural surroundings and how it was so quiet and peaceful. The cottage was very clean, modern and had everything that we could have wanted. Loved the free range of DVDs and the herb garden. It was a perfect choice of a getaway and proved to be the ideal place to propose to my girlfriend at the time, who is now my fiance.

My new husband and I chose this place for our honeymoon, and everything was nice until halfway through our stay when the owners began to persecute us about 'leaving the cottage untidy'. We're not sure what they were referring to as everything was neat (bed made, kitchen neat, clothes tidy, etc.) and we still had 3 more days of our stay. When we asked what was the problem we were told 'the whole state of the cottage'. We were also accused of using all their downloads 'downloading movies' despite not being able to connect to the network from our cottage. They wouldn't listen when we tried to say we couldn't access the internet and so it couldn't have been us.
Both these issues were re-iterated when we left at the end of our stay, being told if things weren't as they were when we arrived we'd be charged for extra cleaning and they were investigating our 'excess internet usage'. Nothing eventuated from either of these threats.
It did leave a sour taste on what we'd hoped would be a happy five days.

Probably not a place to stay if you're young (we're both 23) - the owners seem quite prejudiced.

Four weary travellers checked in very late afternoon to the B&B and were greeted by Sarah in a kindly and helpful manner. We were shown everything we needed to see and all our questions were answered courteously and accurately. What more could be asked. The establishment itself is in God's own country and couldn't be better presented and maintained with clean, spacious rooms and comfortable beds along with modern fully appointed ensuites. We all awoke refreshed and Sarah provided a continental breakfast to die for. When we left well before checkout time (The late checkout warning couldn't be more in your face so there really is no excuse) Sarah bade us a friendly and couteous farewell. For the money, absolutely a five star experience.

Room Tip: At the B&B, choose the room with a spa.

We chose this place from the photo's/write up on the internet & very happy to say that it matched our high expectations. The cottages & gardens are beautiful & spacious and its the perfect place to get away from the city.
Great friendly hospitality from the owners & everyone in town - we will definitely be back!

We enjoyed a lovely weekend at this beautiful location. Lovely cottages with superior fixtures and fittings.
However, the experience was spoilt by the owner insisting on us paying a $35 late checkout fee after we got lost on our morning walk and were 25 minutes late.
Prior to this unbelievably miserable and decidedly stubborn act, we were all set to return again and recommend to our friends.
We are a well-travelled, mature couple who spend many weekends away and understand the meaning of checkout times. It was a genuine mistake and the proprietor has lost a lot of ongoing business because of his greediness.
