“Surprised”

From the outside this motel looked very average and i was expecting to find the experience very ho hum. The rooms however were very spacious and the bed was comfortable.

The best part though was the food...the roast beef was divine...very pub food but a huge meal and the meat was close to the nicest beef i have ever had. Breakfast the next day was also good value for money. Lovely fresh poached eggs, crispy bacon and an adequate continental buffet for a small town motel. Very pleasant surprise this motel......

Stayed one night hand have to say it was OK. Like one other reviewer I did enter with some trepidation but I need not have worried.

The place is next door to the original hotel. It is a bit frayed round the edges but let us not be too picky; there is not a lot to choose from. Rooms are a good size, the bed was comfortable and the shower worked so what more do you want.

There is a view of the park opposite, if you get the upstairs rooms facing the road, and the bonus is the restaurant. It is not going to earn any Michelin stars but you get taste and good measure. A bottle of wine from the bar at the old part of the pub next door will not bankrupt you.

The staff were friendly and that always papers over the cracks for me.

|n summary it is what it is and if you are in this part of the world and need a place to stay, do not hesitate to check in

Room Tip: Upstairs facing the road gives you a park view

The accommodation options in Pemberton are pretty limited and, according to Trip Advisor, this was the one to pick so, with some trepidation (Best Western branded properties tend to be hit + miss), we booked  - a one night stay prior to driving further south. Online the pub looks quite good – a classic old Australian with tasteful and modern rammed earth motel units to the side. Officially rated as a 3.5 star, it actually met the rating pretty well. With a few extra touches, this place could easily slide up the rating scale and grab the extra .5 to become a 4 star. They are really close.

The location is great – right in the heart of town and clearly the main focus in the town (i.e. the most popular eatery and the only form of after dark activity). The pub next door has a public bar that is located at the furthermost point (i.e. the noise isn’t an issue) and then a nice pub bistro that seems to specialise in basic yet hearty food. The bistro provides the acoustic buffer between bar and bedrooms.

The rooms themselves are OK and good value. Bed was comfy but they could probably snap things up a little bit with the decor. The rooms are very dark and feel a little bit unfinished. Rammed earth is, by default, pretty dark but they have used lots of dark colours and wood to complement and the lighting is not good. Some bright colours, a bit of white and things would look bright and airy.

Maintenance is also a bit of an issue. The grounds were a bit sloppy and the check-in area really doesn’t do the place any justice. It’s all a bit worn and needs a freshen up. It’s just the little things that bring it down but they are things that could easily be rectified with some TLC. For example, the retrofitting of split systems is a good thing. The patching up of the hole where the old box type air con sat with a bit of plywood just looks… rough.

The above really is just nitpicking from someone who has stayed in a whole lot of hotels around the world and, by default, tends to notice the little things; little things that, ultimately, shouldn’t put you off making a booking at this hotel. It is good value, clean, the food is reasonable and, if a quick trip around the town is anything to go by, easily the best place to stay in what appears to be a bit of a one horse place.

It is a good hotel, average in standard but have a real warm welcoming feeling. The reception staff was very lovely and very welcoming. She has a great smile. The dining room staffs are also very warm and nice. The hotel is nicely designed and the room is very comfortable. This hotel serves its purpose in the area and the staff made it a memorable time

Stayed overnight at the Best Western Pemberton Hotel. Rooms were roomy, clean and comfortable. Large bed (well two singles put together). Room had everything you would expect a hotel to have.
The restaruant served nice meals - not cheap but reasonably priced. (spaghetti or beer batter fish and chips both served with a self serve basic salad bar for $18.50 each)
Traffic noise was not too bad during the night but could be heard.
An enjoyable overnight stop.

We had lunch at the resturant - I had the freshwater trout and hubby had the chicken - the kids had pizza and fish and chips - the meals were a large serve and good food - very tasty and fresh. The meals were well priced and served in good time. Very enjoyable and we recommend.
