“BEST mini Vacay ever!”
Reviewed April 29, 2013

My partner and I both work many hours and in high stress enviorments and we keen to get away for a weekend for some R&R! After reviewing MANY accomadation choices in Pemeberton we setteled on Rainbow trail. Unfortuntaly due to work we have to cancel our stay, Steve and Katrina (Owners) were very accomdating and offered to either refund our depsoit or hold it so we could book another date, we went with the latter, unfortunatley we had to cancel again less the 48hrs before our holiday (again due to work) although the accomdation has a 48 notice policy Katrina was able to fill the new vacancy and again held our deposit for us to come and stay another time!
We finally made it to this beautiful place in Nov 2012, to be greated by friendly owners, a adorable dog, curious cat (although she thinks she is a dog) and other various farm animals.
the Chalet was BEAUTIFUL! modern yet rustic, we couldn't have asked for more, Between sharing a bottle of Pemberton Red on the picturesque balcony watching the sun set and roos run wild and the HUGE corner spa with ceiling height windows we were instantly relaxed!
We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from it all, in fact we have committed to come to this paradise on an annual basis!

Well, Steve and I are glad that you both finally made it down here in the end and that everything turned out as planned for you. Steve and I both still have a laugh when we read a trip advisor review that mentions Gypsy yet again, she gets more comments than we do (I think that I could just about claim her as a business deduction). But anyway, thankyou for your really nice review, we look forward to seeing you again sometime in the future.
Regards
Katrina and Steve

We booked Rainbow trail because of a recommendation from friends. This was even after doing research of our own. We searched through a large part of the south west to find the perfect balance of a cosy get away and value for money. We had a few 'must haves' so this ruled out a majority of the hotels we looked at. Rainbow trail was Perfect!! It actually gave us more than we were looking for. The location is amazing, looking over the valley, surrounded by the forest. You even get the odd Kangeroo come by to visit, including the resident pet Roo. The property is in a very peaceful location up on a hill, not far from some amazing places to eat and spend an evening. There are beautiful places to walk if you fancy some fresh air and even things to do on the property. There is a mini farm, we get got to feed Chedder (the cow)!
The couple who run the place have done an amazing job. The Chalets themselves were amazing, the bed was so cosy and the bathroom is huge with an amazing spa bath. The chalets even have awesome fireplaces. The only thing is the temperature on the fire place is restricted so some people may get cold. If you are looking for a peaceful, romantic getaway - this is it!! Would definitely stay there again :)

Room Tip: All of the chalets were in a really nice position with good views.

Thanks for your awesome review and the time you took to write it, Steve and I are always stoked when we here that our guests have left with positive memories of their experience down here at Pemberton. Sorry you were a little chilly. It must of been after your stay here, but based on feedback we have had the gas electrician in to do something 'technical' (no idea) to the gas heaters so that they can be turned up higher and since then, this has made a big difference. Not sure if you noticed it up high on the wall, but we also have very good reverse cycle air-conditioner which usually does the winter trick quite nicely (if all else fails, there is always the electric blanket). Again, thanks for staying with us, we hope to see you again sometime in the future.
PS. We also now have good coffee machines in each chalet and when the plumber finally gets here, dishwashers in a box ready to be installed as well.

We have just had 4 wonderful, peaceful and relaxing nights at these chalets over the Easter weekend. They are modern clean and well appointed with a beautiful paddock / forest outlook from every window and the balcony. The bath is huge and with a great view! The bed is super comfy and the nespresso machine and Ipod dock are nice extras. Each of the 4 chalets have a bit of distance between them, we didn't hear the other guests at all. Having stayed in many similar sort of places I can honestly say that these are one of the nicest, they have everything you could need for a short break.

The location is great, only a short drive into Pemberton if you need the supermarket or want to go to the pub, but far enough away from town to be really quiet. The forest and the Bibblimum walking track are literally on the doorstep. 5 mins walk and you're in the Karri trees. There was lots of wildlife esp birds and kangaroos. There are several winerys, casual cafes and gourmet restaurants in the local area, but a stay here is really all about getting away from it all. If that's what you want then i highly recommend it.

What can I say, but thanks for your fantastic feedback and for staying with us. Four days is certainly the ideal amount of time to stay down here in Pemberton as in between relaxing on the balcony, there is so much to do particularly if you like the nature stuff. Hope to see you in the future again sometime.

June 2012 saw us celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary in gorgeous style with the best of nature on our doorstep and luxury inside. As we drove in the gate, rain gave way to the most incredible sight - a double rainbow ...surely a sign that this was where we belonged - for a few tranquil, indulgent days anyway. Steve and Kat made sure our 'no kids' stay was extra special and the super-friendly family dog made us feel right at home! Meticulously clean chalet and quality fittings made for a super comfortable stay, even in the chill of winter. The bed is enormous and sooooooo comfy, the spacious bathroom is gorgeous too. BBQ breakfast on the balcony is a must as the world awakes around you. Neighbours? I know they were there, but the next chalet is far enough away that you'd swear you are the only ones around! Everything you need to be self-sufficient is right there. Glorious days were filled with the sights and sounds of the infamous "Truffle Kerfuffle" in Manjimup and long, long walks amongst the giants and changing scenery along the Bibbulmun Track (yes, we got lost!). Dinner at the pub was FUN and well priced - the perfect place to recount tales of great bravery after climbing the Gloucester Tree! Awesome, so special, will always remember this very beautiful place with great fondness. Thank you so much for your kindness - we would love to come back again.

Wow, hey better late then never they say. It was nearly a year ago you stayed with us, I can't believe you remembered all that detail. We do get some amazing rainbows here, the best I've ever seen but surprisingly that is not the reason we called our chalets 'Rainbow Trail Chalets', they were named because we are on the Rainbow Trail.

My wife and I stayed for two nights in November 2012 while visiting family in and around Pemberton and really enjoyed our time at Rainbow Trail. Our chalet was modern, clean and spacious. The owners were welcoming. We particularly enjoyed BBQs on the balcony and watching dozens of kangaroos and their joeys in the surrounding paddocks. We'll definitely go back when next in the area.

Hi and thanks for your great review. Since you both stayed in November we have added Nespresso Coffee Machines into all chalets and new BBQ's in two so far (still waiting for Steve to put the other two together). We seem to now have quite a big family of kangaroos getting more and more confident and coming up really close to the balconies, the birds have definitely befriended our chalets, hence we have also put new outdoor settings in as they decided to use the wicker chairs for nesting material and dishwashers are coming soon.
Hope to see you again in the future.
Katrina

My husband and I spent 5 nights at chalet number 2. Gorgeous spacious apartment with great air conditioning in the kitchen/dining area that also cooled our bedroom very well. Very large bathroom with a spa bath with great views and also a separate shower. Perfect location, quiet but close enough to the town it only takes about 2 mins by car. We are with Telstra next G and our phones and iPad worked well there. No washing machine, which was a bit of a shame but there is a laundromat in the town. No dishwasher, but that didn't bother us. Steve was nice, ( didn't meet Katrina) he gave us a good map and told us the sights to see.
Good central location to use as a base to travel around this south west corner of WA. Highly recommend!

Wow, thanks for your great review and yes, Steve's not too bad I guess (Im trying to keep his ego in check after all the nice comments he gets) and sorry I didn't get to meet you. We try to act on all constructive feeback we get and the dishwasher one has come up quite a bit. Based on guest reviews we just placed new Nespresso Coffee Machines into all the chalets (sorry probably just after you left) and are now looking at the dishwasher option. We do have to consider the water issue as we are not on town scheme water (tank water) and are concerned about too much water being used as the spas already tax our supplies, but it is definitely something we are looking into. But thanks again for the time you took to place a review, Steve and I really appreciateit.

Ill keep it nice and short.
Staying here now for Xmas long break so 5d/4n.
Absolutely wonderful owners. Steve and Kat were both very accommodating and went through some personal recommendation on what to do and where to eat.

I being to Pemb many times but first time at Rainbow trail chalet. Would I stay here again? Definitely a yes.
We stayed at Chalet 3 and we found it very clean and well kept. The spa was a bonus to us. Love the kangaroos and native animals foraging outside the chalets. Definitely need to take the walk way track as recommended by other reviewers.
Any improvement suggestions to make it even better? These type of chalets are well suited to have a mini library or a few books in the chalets. It's common practice to keep a few around as its such a nice quiet place to grab a book :) but ill know next time.

Hi and thanks for your great review. Yes I agree, a library is a great idea. Whilst the weather was too hot to go outside and do anything, I rearranged my book shelf in the reception area to make it more user friendly (otherwise organised). I have already had quite a few guests previously borrow books but I think that I need to make it more obvious and advertise it in my welcome letter in the chalets. So great idea and thanks for the kick up the butt. I have heaps of good books; it's time to share them I think.
