“awesome clover cottage adventure”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

My family and i were visiting clover cottage for the second time, this time being a three night stay,we travelled from mandurah. We love the peaceful drive to clover cottage,we get so excited as we are driving down the driveway seeing the animals and hearing the birds and the river flowing. We quickly said hello to paul and floyd grabbed that key and went straight to the chalet, with in five minutes i was fly fishing in the dams watching the numerous trout rise around my fly.I caught a nice rainbow and lost one in the top dam but all along i was waiting for my dad and i to wake up early saturday morning and go and fish the exciting trophy dam only minutes away.On arriving at the dam we fished the dam wall without success so we tried the eastern wall, for the next two hours we seen many large rainbow and a few spectacular browns we missed three brown trout only to inexperience,as we were walking back to the dam wall i hooked a estimated 2kg rainbow on a black wooly bugger fly which put up a great fight only too loose it at the bank. This day was the best trout fishing experience my dad and i have ever shared,we will be back to catch the one that got away soon this place is awesome and paul and petrina are the most lovely people we have ever met cheers Corey age 15 years

Thank you for your feedback, particularly with your fishing experience. Future fishermen will be able to to advantage of your knowledge. The fly lake will be shortly stocked with triploid rainbows, which will do very well in that lake.

We a family of 2 adults and 2 boys, (5ys & 2yrs) arrived in the evening and the heater was on and the bread was baked... so nice and comfy, the set ready to lite fire quickly added the extra warmth, beds are comfy, place is very clean, so relaxing.... got up in the morning to feed the chooks, Plonky ,edith (donkeys) and Vernon the goat, then we met Floyd the most loveable character (golden retreiver), he loves a pat and follows you around on your ventures on the farm. Then you meet your hosts Petrina & Paul, they are the true credit to this place, you can see how they have kept the history and appreciation for the property. You have sheep, ducks, wrens, rosellas, robins, rabbits and the trout also to greet, (but these are not as friendly, but some friends fished in the dams and caught a few).
Just walking around the property and enjoying the scenery or sitting back and relaxing on your patio having a couple of drinks, there is a washer and dryer, sunken spa in main bedroom, we had cottage1 closest to the farmhouse still very private and I would say it probably had the best view, the place is great, we will be back....
Manjimup is only a short 20min drive for groceries, you will need only the basics to make some simple meals from the BBQ or the stove top, there is also a smoker for the fish you catch! Just watch Floyd as soon as that starts up he sits around and waits till it's ready!
It is really central to most of the touristy things as well, 1hr from Walploe, 25-30mins Pemberton.
We stayed for 6 nights and didn't want to leave. Thankyou Paul & Petrina for allowing us to experience your little paradise!

Room Tip: They would all be great!

The cottages are extremely comfortable and warm once the fire is going and also have a heater for extra warmth.
The cottages are quite secluded and you will need to take your own food but there is a stove and pots to do basic cooking.
It's a beautiful place with friendly animals around and plenty to do. Would definitely go back.

My wife and I needed some time out after both having a stressful time with serious medical issues...we are now on the mend and decided to regroup with a few days away. We chose Clover Cottage from the net and can assure anyone looking for a relaxing stay this is the place.
Our hosts Paul & Petrina made us feel welcome and were unobtrusive but were there if we needed anything.
The cottage is cosy and has everything you need to enjoy a relaxing stay. With trout dams and the Warren River only 100 metres from the cottage across a lawn were the sheep graze. The river provided us with fish (Red-fin) every morning for breakfast. The spa in the bedroom adds to the comfort factor along with the wood fire in the lounge or air conditioning if you prefer.
to wake up to a cacophony of birdsong, look outside to see the morning mist rising over the trees, sheep in the paddock and occasion rabbit grazing. The sound of the river in the near distance...sheer bliss.

Room Tip: We had cottage 4 which is furthest from the farmhouse but all cottages are well separated.

Great to know our place offered what the 'doctor' ordered and you returned from your break rejuvenated! I agree, the birds are noisy, but joyful to wake up to!

We have just returned from 5 nights at Clover Cottages and we really enjoyed our stay. On arrival, we had freshly baked bread and local jam and fresh eggs too, along with tea, coffee and sugar etc. As it was a cooler autumn evening, the fire was even already laid and just needed lighting. The cottages are well equipped, comfortable, clean and spacious. The owners, Petrina and Paul were fabulous hosts and gave us lots of information both by email before we arrived and when we were there.

The verndahs are the perfect place to eat, relax or read a book. Lots of wild birds visited and pecked up crumbs - much to our children's delight. It was wonderful to just sit there and enjoy the sounds of nature. The verandah chairs are also very comfy, both for eating and just sitting in to read/relax.

Our kids loved the donkeys (especially Edith) and the other animals and collecting fresh eggs. They also enjoyed canoeing up the river and other people staying at the same time were clearly enjoying the fishing too. We spent one whole day at the farm and on other days went out. The trips recommended by Petrina were all excellent and we found everyone we met so friendly and helpful.

The owners have taken the trouble to find out about the history of the farm and area and had some lovely old photos on the walls as well as a written version about the farm that we found fascinating. So, if you want to unwind, fish, enjoy some peace and quiet, walk in the woods or do a few trips in the area from a charming base, then this is a great place to stay.

Also, a previous review said there were no washing facilities but now there is a washer and dryer.

We stayed here for 5 nights with our 4mth old twins in January.
It was a home away from home! The owner was lovely and provided us an extra portacot (was brand new!).
The cottage itself was very lovely and homey, very comfortable, with a pretty outlook. Pretty well equipped. Unfortunately we didn't have much chance to check out the facilities (fishing, bushwalking, etc).
But hopefully we'll make it back in the future :)
