If you want to escape the hustle & bustle of city life, this is the place to be! No mobile phone reception, four x four-legged welcoming committee & spectacular views of the forest. Each season gives you a different experience. This is getting back to nature comfortably!!

This place is magical. The views are breathtaking at every vantage point. Being surrounded by the karri forest is an experience I wish to repeat again and again. The chocolate team are the best of companions. Our hosts are most abliging, with chocolate brownies and wine to welcome us with. The chalet is very tastefully fitted out, with the homey touches everyone is raving about. Abundant towels and bedding, easy peasy coffee machine, tons of firewood, the warmest of combustion fireplaces, free games and dvd's (if you have time for such persuits) and a free laundry. Ticks every box and then some. Oh yes, and a herb garden to help yourself to all the cooking herbs you need, when you need them.

Room Tip: You want chalet number 4. It's on the end (more privacy) and has the coffee machine.

We have been repeat visitors to the heavenly Hawke Brook since 2006, trying to get down there to enjoy every season, as each one offers a different ambience and beauty.
The perfect place to let the kids run as we sit and enjoy a Pemberton Wine from the near by Wine Centre , we over look the Amphibian Amphitheatre - a dam - watching the sun drop behind the amazing trees.
Hawke Brook Chalets gives you that warm fuzzy feeling the moment you arrive until the moment when you unfortunately have to leave.
Clean and manicured, it is ideal for those traditional family vacations you may remember as a child, playing board games by the fireplace (there is a DVD and Board Game library!), bushwalking with the dogs as your guide (4 super friendly chocolate labradors live here too), or perhaps stargazing on a blanket (Oh WOW!)
It is why we come here over and over again

The 4 Hawke Brook Chalets are situated in a beautiful setting on one side of a small advocado and kiwi fruit farm, which is surrounded by forest and National Park. There are two ways to get to the property from Pemberton. The way with the shortest amount of gravel roads (6 km) is from the bitumen (Vasse Highway), which you turn off about 12 km west of Pemberton. The last 3 km of gravel & dirt are down the end of a no through road. The road is OK for a normal car, which we had, even in moderate rain, provided you take it steady and drive to the conditions.
We arrived mid winter for a 3 night stay in Chalet 4 and were accompanied by rain on and off for what seemed like every hour of the day & night. We came to relax, so that's we we did. The rain and the cosy log fire, with plenty of cut firewood supplied and stored under cover, just helped to make sure this happened. We got to do the walk around the farm for an hour between rain showers on one day, and visited the nearby (3 km away) Pemberton Wine Centre late one wet afternoon to taste local product & restock for the coming rainy nights. We did a drive along the Warren National Park loop road on another day, down to the Warren River, visited the Bicentennial Tree, the Cascades and drove into Pemberton. We never got more than 200 metres from the car due to the weather.
The chalet and chalet kitchen are well equipped with all you need. A lot of extra liittle things are provided in the cupboards like spare light bulbs, emergency torch, firelighters, insect spray, etc. to make your stay a bit easier, if they are needed. You can zap a frozen TV dinner in the microwave, cook up a storm in the gas stove/oven or use the gas BBQ outside under the awning. There is no dishwasher. If eating in the chalet you need to bring what you want with you, as it is a fair way into town, particularly if the weather sets in. There are some restaurants about, but not real close. Chalet 4 has a coffee machine. It also has an ipod dock for your own music.. The chalet has a TV, but only a limited number of channels. We did not get to see the World Cup final live due to no SBS channel! There is a DVD player and you can get DVD's from a well stocked library in the office near chalet 1.

We checked in using the intercom in the office, as it was unattended when we got there. All very simple , friendly and helpful from Sue. We bought a couple of very nice home made jams and left the money in the honesty jar on the counter......there is nothing like being in the country! Sue checked the next morning to see how we had settled in, then we were left to get on with relaxing for the next few days. We ran out of gas one evening when using the BBQ and a full bottled was delivered from the other side of the farm within 10 minutes.

If an internet booking is made, that is not direct with the property, it is suggested you email or phone Sue to send an email with the chalet information sheet attached, as this explains the inclusions, equipment & utensils in more detail than any of the websites we found.

I cannot say a bad thing about this place. We arrived at dusk and the keys were in the door waiting for us. Every room had fresh flowers in little vases even the bathroom and there were sprigs of lavender on the beds. The owners have obviously put a lot care and thought into the chalets and every little detail was taken care of including; electric blankets, extra heater, insect spray, air fresheners, all the little things that made the stay cosy like home. The views from the balcony were of green and lush trees and a small dam. It was a little piece of paradise in the forest. Will certainly go again.

The one draw back which could not be helped was the access road, which is a dirt road through the national park, please be weary of animals jumping out on the road at night.

Brilliant place, well worth a stay.

Had a wonderful stay at the Hawke Brooke Chalets. Beautiful surroundings in an ideal spot, very close to National Park and Pemberton Wine Centre. Lovely touches with the fresh flowers and arrival chocolate slice. Very friendly dogs that come and visit the chalets from time to time.

We did struggle with room in the second bedroom for the portable cot for our daughter (only due to the bunk beds and extra single bed, not due to room size). Also, be careful staying here in March, it was a particularly bad year for the march flys. Would be a great spot in winter to snuggle up in front of the wood heater.

Great service and a lovely spot to use as a comfy base to explore the area.

We stayed in cottage no. 2 for 3 days over Christmas and it was really a delight to have stayed there!

The service was very good. Sue greeted us over the intercom with a friendly "make yourselves at home!" and it did not take much to do just that! Cottage was ready for us when we arrived: lovely fresh flowers, lavender on bed, slices in fridge....and we even had a specially wrapped delivery on Christmas Eve! Sue is very friendly, but respected our privacy and was willing to assist in anything we needed....an ideal hostess!

The farm house is out of sight of the four cottages that are built in a row on a hill over-looking a spring fed dam. The cottages are far enough from each other so as to not hear talking and there are screens with climbers on the balconies so you can't really see the next door neighbours. We had visits by a kangeroo right in front of the cottage one evening and also a pair of wild emus. Saw geese in the distance and heard many birds calling.

The cottage itself was perfectly furnished (although I do think it could become tight with 6 people - we were 2 adults and 2 small kids). It was clean, comfortable and neat and equipped with the lot. I could make a roast for Christmas, plus had lots of serving dishes etc. for salads, to give you an idea. We liked the wood fire early morning (although later, we realised that it was a total fire ban!? Ignorance from our side....not sure if you are then allowed to make a fire in a unit....it actually is total fire ban!?). The cottage was not serviced during our stay, but we had an extra towel or two and came out fine after three days. We battled a bit to get the water temperature of the shower right and constant, especially for the kids.

The cottages are at the end of a road and thus very private and secluded. We loved that! You drive through these huge karri trees...unbelievable! Disadvantage of this, is that there is no mobile reception (I know, seclusion is what we wanted, but we needed to phone loved ones over Christmas). A short drive (say one km) and you get reception, so it is not a train smash!

The boys loved the Pixie play area, where they cooked (!) under the trees and played in the sand, as well as the dogs. I do think the garden at the play area needs some attention, but that is being picky! The dogs are well mannered and won't jump up or enter the cottage, which was a great relief, because they are big and there are four of them! We also used the free dvd library.

Our outings for the three days in Pemberton, looked like this:
Day 1 - drove to Northcliffe (unfortunately Understory was closed for the day), then Windy Harbour (yucky place...) and Salmon Beach (worth the visit)
Day 2 - Yeagarup dunes & beach (all I can say, is WOW!), then Big Brook dam (just as lovely!)
Day3 - Pemberton town, where boys climbed on old train in park, then picked berries at Lavender and Berry farm

It was our first visit to Pemberton and we loved it! There are still lots that we would like to do (Understory, tram ride, fishing for trout...and Yeagarup dunes again definately.....also would like to check out Lake Jasper next time).

Hawke Brook Cottages definately played a big part in making the trip memorable. Thank you, Sue & family, we will be back!
