The building is fitted out as a 4.5 star hotel should be, but it seems that over the years, and possibly with the change in management this property has begun to show signs of aging. Showers seemed unclean and there were stains on the carpet and couch in the room. At check in, I had major problems as I wanted to settle the account when I checked out, like almost all other quality hotels on the planet, but it seems The Sebel Mandurah has little faith in whoever stays there. After 15 minutes I think the person checking us in realized how difficult she was being and suddenly started performing to a 4.5 star service level. She upgraded our room. Later I called to get an ice bucket sent to the room and after room service told us to call reception to avoid a delivery fee, there was no one manning the phone. After it rang out, I called room service back and the ice arrived promptly from them, without fee. Perhaps this is a recurring problem they deal with.
All in all I felt the effort put in by staff was well below par, from reception to cleaning. The view was beautiful. It wouldn't take very much to take The Sebel back to a 4.5 star level, but without a massive shakeup of staff by management, I just don't see it happening. I won't be returning.More
