“Not a 4.5 star, 3 at best!”
Reviewed September 26, 2010

Spent 2 nights at the Capeview over the long weekend. Booked a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom spa aprtment. Check in was very brief, just hello and they gave us a map to find the apartment and that was it. It took a good 10 minutes to find and be warned that althought the spa apartments are 50 metres from the beach ours backed on to the construction area (there was no work going on though, all fenced up) and you do not get a car park near the apartment. It was a pain lugging in stuff and walking up the laneway.
The rooms are quite large, kitchen with everything you need, dining, 2 lounges. Main bed bed was very comfy and had a tv in the bedroom. The main bathroom has a 2 person spa and is surrounded by glass but they do have pull down blinds for those that want privacy. The second bedroom has 2 single beds. They are on rollers that do no lock and the floors are wood so as soon as you sit on them they go moving around the room! We therefore ended up having to have our 3 year old sleep in the main bed with us. The lounge area has a tv that is tiny (around 34 cm) and this was very frustrating when the Grand Final was on!! The only thing we were happy about with the reply was knowing we could watch it at home on the large screen. You would think for a supposed 4.5 star property they would have plasmas/lcd at least 32 inches. Not that we go away to watch tv but we did want to watch the grand final while our little boy was having a nap.
The beach is very close and there is a nice grassed area in front. I think the ocean view apartments would be nicer.
One thing we though odd was that they had no coat hangers in the wardrobes - you had to got to reception to ask, so we didnt bother. Once again on check out, the lady just ook the key and said thanks!
It wasn't too bad but we wouldn't go there again. For the price you can get as good, if not better accommodation in the Busselton area with better amenities.
Maybe once all the construction is finished (more apartments, pool, restaurant) it would be better.

We had a 2 bedroom modern villa that was clean. Had all the ammenities you needed - dishwasher, washing machine, dryer etc etc..one tv and 5 foxtel channels plus DVD. Sofa was a fold out bed for extra's if needed. In a good location, half way between Busselton and Dunsbrough and near the turn off to Margaret River. Would stay here again as was reasonably priced. Was still under construction but wasn't a worry to us.

The site is still under construction and so our 2 apartments overlooked an ugly wasteland. The security lights were on all night so it was like sleeping during the day. The bedroom curtains did not have blockout and this let the morning light in . We requested another room and this was organised. The second apartment was better. We requested a Foxtel guide but were told they do not provide them. When the Manager saw our computer he said use that to see whats on! They advertised they had 5 foxtel channels but there were only four. The shower floods the ensuite so request extra towels.

Two couples traveling together, we stayed in a two bedroom 'bungalow'. The bungalows are like a residential unit with an undercover car port at the front and a private backyard with a barbeque. Ours backed on to the highway but we were not troubled by noise at night. The living area was very modern and spacious, if somewhat stark as there was no decoration beyond the paint on the walls. It was comfortable with a full size kitchen and a very big flat screen television that the men loved. It had all the little niceties like toiletries, face cloths and tissues. The master bedroom had an en suite so each couple had their own bathroom. The second bedroom had a double bunk-bed with a single above it, which was fine for couples as well as fam ilies.
Unfortunately the mattress on that double had passed its 'use by' and was no longer comfortable.

The bungalows do not have a spa bath. The spas are in the apartments which are on the beach edge of the property and are older and slightly more expensive.

The property is not walking distance to dining opportunities as the town has sprawled out along the beach, but we found that we were quite comfortable preparing our own meals or driving out for takeaway as the kitchen and dining area are spacious and there is also outdoor dining by the barbeque.

  • Liked — Clean, spacious and well equiped
  • Disliked — Uncomfortable mattress

We have booked another stay here for Australia Day weekend. We stay at the 3bdm spa apartments and they are great. For a family like ours (6 people) they are such good value and very modern with all the facilities we need. We also stay at the Forte View in Margaret River which are just as nice (a little trendier but attracts groups of noisier celebrators for long weekends than the Busselton branch). We travel overseas a lot and these apartments are fantastic value.

  • Liked — Spacious, modern and great value
  • Disliked — Pool could be better but we usually go to Meelup Beach anyhow

We were 4 adults and stayed in a ground floor 2 bedroom appartment in late December 2007 for 4 nights.
Our first reaction when entering the apartment was to laugh out loud and at length.
The walls between the master bedroom and the en-suite bathroom were made entirely of glass with no possibility to block off the view from one to the other. This meant that anyone in the bedroom (or for that matter looking through the bedroom windows) had full view of whatever may have been taking place in the bathroom / toilet. It is a novelty to which it took us some time to adjust.
In addition when the shower was used over the spa bath it completely flooded the whole floor of the bathroom.
The second bedroom was very small and hardly adequate for two adults. The twin beds were on casters which made them easy to move on the wood floor, so much so that every movement during the night resulted in the beds drifting around the room as if of their own free will.
The kitchen was clean but the utensils were ill-matched and clearly had seen better days. Consequently we did not feel comfortable preparing our own meals and ate out every night.
The apartment site is undergoing a large building project so there was no swimming pool but access to the beach was very easy and only one minute's walk away as well as a lengthy cycle/walking path which was very pleasant (apart from the flies).
In fairness to the staff they tried their best to accommodate our complaints and provided towels to mop up the flooding and carpet squares to put under the beds and stop them moving.
Overall however we were disappointed and the appartment was certainly not the luxury one we had anticipated from the website and prior conversations with the hotel.

  • Liked — proximity to beach and walking path
  • Disliked — crazy design planning of appartment

Cape View was a great place to stay. Large units, very modern and so very comfortable. A short walk to the beach (200m) plus there is a pool on their site. They seem to still be developing but we had a wonderful stay and would recommend this place to anyone.
