“Majestic!”
Review of Albany Wind Farm

Albany Wind Farm
Ranked #5 of 91 things to do in Albany

This was a very unexpected surprise - I only went because my husband dragged me out there. Set against the backdrop of the beautiful Albany coastline, the windmills are strangely beautiful - tall and majestic. It was a quasi mystical experience.

As with all Windfarms you can see these mills from a long way off, but you dont realise how big they are. What I enjoy about this wind farm is the twisting winding road out to them. As you get closer your view is blocked by a hill and then you go around a corner and suddenly there's a huge propeller blade turning above you. Then the road turns and you loose sight again. The next time you see one of them your a lot closer and the bit you see is massive. You get teased as you get closer. I love standing under them and listening to the whooshing sound as they rotate. The scenery out there is stunningly beautiful. The BibleBum track (spelling intentional) passes through here and is well worth a stroll.

we were a bit disappointed with this site there is no center where you can go into we thought they may have been a cafe there to there is paths all round the windmills for walking but that's about all they should come to the Whitelees one in Scotland to see how to operate a center.

It is free and there is great view to the ocean and to Albany town. There were nice paths which you can walk to the lookout places.

Great to see a working wind farm that almost supplies a largish town with electricity. Great position overlooking the ocean
