“Snake Pit”
Review of Albany Wind Farm

Albany Wind Farm

There are several short trails to follow to look outs. The views are amazing over the wind farm (which is not big), ocean, and bush. When we were there, there was a bridal party taking photos - the vista is breathtaking. There are also little plaques to explain significant points by the Noongar people which was a lovely nod to the aboriginal importance of the area. There are also nice mosaics on the path that match.

Please keep in mind that this attraction is in nature, and we saw at least 1 poisonous snake. A local told me that they have seen up to 7 on one of their walks. Dogs are not allowed and keep on the track. Snakes are usually scared of people but it is important to be aware.

I could get a close-up look at the wind turbine & literally hear the blades cutting the air as they rotated.
A great scenic place to teach children about renewable & alternative energy source.
However, don't expect the place to be entertaining - it is not.

We found this place to be mesmerizing standing under the massivve blades and listenting to them woosh around slowly - nice walkways and magical scenery - lots of information points which we found interesting. Spotted 2 big black snakes on the road as we were driving in !!!

This offers a great view of the rugged south coast from several vantage points. Many steps go down to the waters edge where you can often see dolphins shooting the waves. When it was first proposed the only way you could get to the area was by a sand track and only fishermen knew where they ended. The wind farm provides about 70 per cent of Albany's power.

Definately take the family here! The kids would love it. Was such an amazing sight to watch the blades go around and you definately appreciate how big these machines are!
