Yes it's a rock, but it fills us with pleasant memories of our holidays with our young children. We have been coming to Albany for over 30 years, many of those over the Christmas holidays with our young family. For them, they were not in Albany until they had seen the rock, and it was a competition to see who sees it first and shouts out "Dog Rock". A consolation was "Little Dog Rock", the small rock next to it for the second to se it. Every time we drive down this road and see the Rock, my wife and I automatically call out "Dog Rock" bringing back many happy memories of holidays spent in Albany with our children when they were younger. The rock is shaped like a Labrador head, hence its name. Hopefully it remains to provide other visitors of memories like we have.
