“Bald Head walk and sunrise from Ithmus Hill - stunning”
Reviewed February 19, 2014

This is a scenic sound, which can be appreciated in many ways. A whale-watching cruise, a wild beach at Ledge, family friendly beaches at Middleton and Emu Point, Mount Melville or the sweeping white sands on the Vancouver peninsula.

But the best way to appreciate it is the truly stunning 5hr return bushwalk to Bald Head. Sound on one side with turquoise waters and beaches, Southern Ocean pounding on the other. I rate it as Australia's best day walk.

If you do it, try to catch the sunrise at Ithmus Hill 15 minutes in. Stunning.

“Beautiful”
Reviewed January 29, 2014

This was the last place we went to before heading back home to Perth. I wish we went there before on a sunny warm day as it would of been so nice to have walked on the water or/and had a swim. Love how it's right next door to Whale World!

“Impressive Breakfast”
Reviewed December 8, 2013

The Sound is certainly an attractive inlet. You can understand why it was such an attraction for the whale hunters with the protection that it offers from the harsh Southern Ocean.

Perhaps the best views of King George Sound ironically are to be had from Frenchmans Bay beside the old whaling centre. If you disregard the disgusting past, Frenchman's Bay presents as something of an unspoilt canvas with a great shoreline and uninterrupted views across the Sound to Breaksea Island and Michaelmas Island!!

“A natural Harbour with a view”
Reviewed December 8, 2013

When undertaking some of the walk around Albany the King George Sound adds the backdrop to a pleasant days walking. When we were there the Around the World Yacht race was completing one of the legs into Albany harbour and we had good views of the yachts racing in.

We stopped there to take in the sights and so did 2 other people from the town we came from in Northern NSW who we did not know. Great views and huge expanse of water.
