Lavender Cottage is totally a hidden gem in Albany.
The resturant is set in a small elegantly restored cottage tucked in between commercial buildings in the centre of town.
The tables are small and quite intimate. The service is great. very attentive but not intrucive.
The menu is gorgeous. Beautifully presented French food. The evening menu is a set price for either a 2 or 3 course dinner. Its realitively pricey (compared to the bigger family al la carte resturants in town) but the meals, venue and atmosphere are really quite special & unique in Albany.
Something that makes the price a lot more reasonable is the fact they don't change corkage for BYO alcohol.
Went as a group, 2 tables of 6. This was a shame as I dont think you get the full feel of everything that makes this resturant special.
Its perfect for small groups, and couple. I also wouldn't recommend for young childern. Although the staff don't make it seem so, the seating area is very small and very busy.
