Fantastic decor. I felt like I'd stepped into King Louis XIV's drawing room for afternoon tea. The food and coffee was delicious although a little over priced. Still, it is such a unique experience it was worth it.

Loved this place. The first room you enter is reminiscent of a French cafe and is delightful, but once you make your way to the back room you are transported to another world. There is something to look at everywhere you turn, from the shabby antique style furniture, to the quirky bookcase and chandeliers. Yes, it's a little pricey, we paid $9 for a glass of wine, but it was worth it to be able to sit by the log fire & soak up ambience.

The Liberte is a coffee lounge in the historic London Hotel and forms part of the historic precinct of Albany. As you enter from Stirling Terrace you encounter a small coffee shop filled with unusual old pictures and posters and two staff with a smiling welcome. This area is quaint, but after ordering your coffee and cake walk through the rear doorway and down a short corridor to a very comfortable lounge. It is a large area into which you are transported to a world of yesteryear and the interesting comfort of antique furniture and fittings. There are many old and very ornate sofas and big antique armchairs. The sideboards and small tables are exquisite with the many fine woods expertly worked. The whole scene is nicely balanced with large ornately framed mirrors and the chandeliers could well grace any boudoir or stately home. The open log fires at each end of what is really two rooms are very welcome in winter months, and help to make this an ideal place for meeting friends.
Oh! what of the coffee after you have digested the surroundings. This is excellent, and served to the table with a beautiful smile.

I am a local and am very disappointed in Liberte. It is still a lovely venue but prices are getting out of hand. Ordered a bottle of wine, to be told that it was out of stock but I could have a better wine for the same price. I got a $10 wine of dubious quality for $36. Bit greedy, I think.
