A family of 5 adults and one infant we spent 6 nights, over the Christmas period in the Vancouver. The property was in an excellent location and comfortably accommodated our group. We liked the lay out of the house and it had some nice features.
However, we were disappointed by some aspects of our stay. There were a number of issues we sought to discuss with the owner shortly after we arrived. Unfortunately, telephone calls to the 2 contact numbers went unanswered and a voicemail message elicited no response. Staff at Albany Visitor Centre, through whom the booking had been made, were unwilling to assist and we were left feeling frustrated for the entire duration of our Christmas family reunion!
We were concerned that we were only provided with one set of towels per person and that the property information booklet stated that those were not to be laundered by guests! The iron was broken, as was the heater in one of the bathrooms. Despite booking for 5 adults there were only 4 place mats for the table and 4 wine glasses. A critical light in the stairwell needed a bulb replacement. On using the dinner plates for the first time one was found to be very dirty, clearly not washed following use! The cutlery drawer was grubby as were the windows, which rather spoiled enjoyment of the nice views! There were 2 small dried flower arrangements that were well past their best.
For the $2500 that we had happily paid we had expected to experience "the attention to detail" noted in the promotional material. Sadly, this was not the case! No fresh flowers or home made bread for us!
While this is undoubtedly a very nice property, I would hesitate to recommend it to others given our difficulty in making contact with the owner and the unwillingness of staff at the Visitor's Centre to take any action to attempt to rectify the issues that concerned us. To be advised, when returning the keys, at the end of our stay, that this was the first complaint they'd had and the owner may be away on holiday... simply served to exacerbate the frustration, disappointment and annoyance that we felt ! We are a Scottish family who were getting together for the first time in 2 years, from Perth, New York and Kununurra... this was not quite the experience we'd hoped for!
