Tired and needing a rest in Albany? So is this hotel. I had booked through Accor as their other hotels I've used had been in good locations, well presented and friendly. Ibis Styles Albany is about as far from the center of town as you can get without actually leaving. I understand it was an existing property, but Accor really could have chosen their representation here better.
The check in staff were friendly, but it took them some time to find my reservation. The room was fine for the price but I didn't appreciate someone else's hair in the bathroom and on the hairdryer plug, or the plants that had forced their way in through the bathroom window.
We had a cracked wineglass in our room, which also confused the reception staff and it took them a moment to realise they should replace it.
The buffet breakfast was lukewarm and the food rubbery and tasteless. When we and other guests told staff there were no teabags provided, they rushed back with a handful and tossed them in a basket. We only discovered it was peppermint tea once we had made it, with milk, and taken a sip.

At under $90 a night this is good value budget accommodation. Room was clean, bed was comfortable and in-house restaurant better than expected ($22 for a Scotch Fillet steak, properly cooked with self-serve salad bar).

A bit noisy, as my room was close to the highway - maybe you get further away if you pay more - but not bad enough to prevent sleep.

Couple of niggles: hot water pressure was poor, there was no shelf in the shower recess for shampoo etc and no accessable power point next to the bed to plug in a phone charger (there were several points on the other side of the room at the writing desk, however). Staff were friendly.

Overall, perfectly adequate budget accommodation.

So what do you expect from an $80 hotel room? OK, flash it is not, but some of the recent reviews seem a bit harsh. The hotel is now the Ibis and is part of the Accor Group, so maybe it's improved recently. Still definitely 'budget', but my room was clean and everything worked. I'm one room back from Albany Highway so I expect it will be a noisy night, but that's luck of the draw. Maybe if you pay more you get a room further away from the road!

Only complaints are with the bathroom. Hot water pressure is poor, and there's no shelf in the shower recess for soap etc.

As stated before, this really is a motel, rather than a hotel, and again it doesn’t matter, especially as we were on a driving holiday. The room was lovely, clean, big flat screen TV, excellent shower, and in excellent condition. I agree the main dining room and bar could do with refurb, but otherwise the hotel was good. Our room included continental breakfast, and to be honest, I wouldn’t pay for the upgrade to a hot breakfast, didn’t look particularly appetising. The location is good, a little way out of the centre town, but not too far. Albany itself is beautiful town, beaches, sea restaurants, really enjoyed Albany.

Room Tip: Not sure what too say, out room was great, and right on the last row of rooms, maybe these have been...

This is really a motel, though that is not a criticism! The rooms are tired (e.g. lights not working indoors and out) and need a good refurbishment. Room servicing was also rather slapdash, towels taken away and not replaced, for example. The site as a whole is not in a bad state but why does nobody from management ever look BEHIND the building and see the litter and debris?
On a positive note, the reception and restaurant service was good, possibly a little under staffed

We stayed at the Ibis Styles hotel whilst travelling in Western Australia, the hotel was okay and suited our requirements, it was clean and tidy and the house keeping staff changed sheets and maintained the rooms cleanliness every day.

It was a little bit out of town which was not a problem as we had a car.

I wouldnt recommend having breakfast at the hotel as it was not cheap and left quite a lot to be desired.

Albany is a lovely place and we were quite sad to leave, would recommend the Kalgon Queen Cruise (look out for the dancing pelicans) and also the Three Anchors pub on the sea front.

The Ibis is a well located motel in the Albany area, and the evening meal is of good quality and well priced. The young staff could do with a bit of education on greetings, as I and my wife do not appreciate being greeted with the " Hi Guys" approach.
