My sister and I had the misfortune of staying there for 2 nights in September and what an experience it was. Where do I start. The 'gentleman' who took my phone booking was abrubt and rude. He seemed to find it difficult to understand English and took for ever to place the booking. He even wanted to charge me an extra $15 per night for separate beds! The room was smelly and had suspicious wet stains on the carpet. The front door didn't close unless you took a flying leap at it from a distance (we came back to the room after being out all day and the door had been left open by the cleaners (probably because they couldn't close it!), and the 'soap dispenser' which was empty, was soap/shampoo/conditioner in one?! The light over the mirror was broken and the air con was about 30yrs old. We were reluctant to turn it on in fear of what might fly out of it.

Room Tip: stay somewhere else.

I have recently taken ownership of the motel and am determined to create a great value 3.5 and 4 star star product that meets and hopefully exceeds expectations . I see that you were very unhappy with the hotel in the past and reading your comments had a right to be. If you are heading back down to Albany for any reason please let me offer you two nights free in our corporate or courtyard rooms. Please then be extremely critical and give us your toughest assessment. I would love to know your honest opinion now of our hotel. Please call us directly on 08 9841 2200 and confirm that David Huang has authorized this comp stay.
Hope you will take up this offer.

We stayed at the Amity over the last 3 nights and yes there are parts of it that are tired and dated but the new management is really trying hard. The dining room has fantastic/inexpensive breakfasts and we had the 12 dollar steak and salad meal as described below..what a deal.I loved my three day break and as our children are aged 6 to 13 the five of us fitted nicely into a family room with joining door.I would be happy to recommend this practical place for a family to stay for a few nights and good luck to the new manager and his staff as they try really hard.

Extremely cheap to stay here at this time of year and generally very quiet. The room and bathroom were clean however very dated (even though the webpage said recently refurbished!). There was a strange smell when we arrived (even with the window open) however nothing too awful. The a/c heating worked well too - it got down to 4degrees overnight outside, warm and snuggly inside (there were extra blankets to).
Staff were very helpful and happy.
For the price paid this place was very good ($104 for 2 nights).
Didn't eat in so no comment on the food.

Had 4 adults staying in a room for a night.

There was a pee smell in the room but we didn't bother changing it since it was the Easter weekend + Australian school holidays and we arrived at night.

About the sound proofing, we could hear the tv playing in the next room while we were trying to sleep. The next morning, we were scolded by our neighbors for talking (they had a crying baby trying to sleep).

Our kettle was leaking but we managed to change it to a working one.

Staff were friendly.

If not for the smell in that particular room I'd think it was an okay stay.

I had the opposite thoughts from the above comment, but it has been 8 months.
Apparantly there are new owners and management of the place, and they have commenced renovating the motel into a very modern look.
My kids had a great time, the breakfast was great value for money, and the staff were very friendly. We stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms, very nice and clean!

The pool though, was closed, apparantly it is opening up in a months time.
Overall we were happy with the place, and even though it looks like they have alot of work infront of them, we will be looking forward to staying there and seeing the new changes.

This hotel is very tired looking and provides a basic service. Everything is worn out and needs replacement, repairs and refurbishment. They've closed the restaurant.

The most disappointing part was the pool, which was a great attraction to the hotel but it was appalling and it did not look safe for the kids to swim in.

We could hear the kids running and jumping on the floor above us.

There are other much more modern hotels, providing better facilities in Albany at a similar price.
