“Work conference”
Reviewed December 10, 2011

I had my work conference here last month. The rooms are beautiful and newly renovated, however there are extensive renovations going on at this resort so if you want to sleep in past 7 or have a quick arvo nap then forget it. The food was terrible. What was supposedly a BBQ dinner was a buffet where the sausages weren't even bbq'd and were more like a casserole. Most of the food was cold by time you got it back to the table as well. Location is perfect as its just across the road from the beach.

Whilst the furnishings and decor are quite nice, the rooms are small and lack even a table and chairs to eat at. The only option for one person if you dont want to balance breakfast on your knees is the desk. The in-room cooked breakfast was one of the worst I have ever seen. My husband's omelette looked quite distasteful and in fact, he couldn't even eat it. My fruit platter was fine but for the hefty price we could have enjoyed a large gourmet breakfast in Torquay.
The staff were very courteous and helpful and I cannot fault them.
The hotel non-valet parking is a very strange and ineffective arrangement. The parking is in tandem car parks but because people may be leaving earlier and don't want to get blocked in each of the two tandem car parks were taken up by one car only which meant only half the undercover car parking area was utilised.
On a brighter note, we did stay at this hotel for a wedding and it was the perfect location for this; a beautiful view, great service, and delicious food.

Well located hotel, across the road from the beach and 10 minutes walk into the centre of Torquay. Our room was a little disappointing and felt more like a motel room.
The facilities at this hotel are good, an indoor lap pool and an outdoor pool with spa. The gym has a good selection of exercise machines and some free weights. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was good although a little expensive. As we stayed during off-peak the parking was fine, undercover beneath the hotel, however there is limited parking so this can sometimes be an issue.

I rarely have anything negative to say about hotels but i think others may find my review helpful.
The best things about this property was out room. We had a 1 bedroom apartment. It was spacious with a seperate bedroom. It had a balcony and kitchen and everything you'd need to stay there comfortably.
Parking is a huge issue. On our second night there we had to park down the street away from the hotel because there are not enough car parks. Not the best scenario but the fact that is was raining made it very annoying. They offer valet which obviously not a lot of people use as half that carpark was empty!!
The reception staff, although polite enough didnt tell us anything about the hotel. We were not even told how to get to our room (level 2) which made it very difficult as we were at the end of the hotel and had to walk around as there the hotel does not go all the way around. They were all flustered because they said a whole lot of people had just checked out so they had no idea what was going on. They weren't rude but we waited 5 minutes before anyone actually notice us waiting.
The noise levels were a lot worse than i thought. WE were at one end of the pool and all you could here was everyone in the pool area. We have stayed at bigger hotels with bigger pools as the noise wasn't an issue so i would suggest not staying here if you are after a "quiet" weekened away.
Also the rooms are interconnecting so we were sitting there watching tv after dinner and suddenly we here the lock and our door opens from the other side. We had to call reception to deadbolt the door.
On a positive the staff around the hotel were absolutely lovely. They all said hello and were always smiling.
The hotel is very nice with a great pool area but i probably wouldn't stay there again.

This is a fairly large hotel, though not high rise. It has a nice pool and is across the road from the beach. Staff were helpful and courteous and check-in was very efficient. Our standard room was quite large, very clean and with Queen bed, lounge type chair and a desk and chair. Instead of a mini-bar the room had a bar-size fridge which was very handy for chilling our own drinks etc. There were also the usual tea/coffee facilities along with iron and ironing board. The bathroom was also very clean and while there was no bath, the shower was very good and with the usual array of bathroom toiletries. The balcony had two chairs.

We had no need to use them, but the hotel has a restaurant which looked quite nice, and a lounge bar which also services the pool area. There is also a foyer 'shop' selling some basic necessities along with soft drinks, nibblies, etc. Valet parking is available but there is a good sized covered parking area and also an open parking lot. The hotel has a gym and while my wife thought the beauty services at the day spa were quite good they do carry the usual hotel price premium. While it would be quite a walk into the town centre it is only a few minutes drive, and there are also cafes/restaurants only several minutes drive along the beach front Esplanade.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front had balcony views of the ocean.

this is a nice 4 star property with good sea views and a great gym and pool complex. The restaurant is a little lacking in atmosphere but you get that on a Monday. Breakfast looked ok but ask for an omelette instead, its was freshly prepared and very tasty.

Rooms and ok, ask for a queen or king, the singles are small and not king singles. Avoid a room that is near the bar as it gets a little noisy, but there are plenty of other options.

I stayed at the hotel during winter and the hotel wasn't fully occupied. I was allocated a one bedroom suite which was extremely spacious, clean and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. The food and service at the hotel were great, but the service at the bar was very slow and under-staffed.

The location of the hotel is fantastic and would be great for a luxurious summer break.
