“Fantastic food”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

Food was great. Authentic Italian. Great service. The beef carpaccio was excellent. Although we did not have any "affettati" the red meat slicer is impressive. Not easy to find but once you do you'll probably go back!!!

“Great Experience - Best Arancini Balls Ever - Keep it up guys!”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

What a truly great addition to the Prahran dining scene - nothing, absolutely nothing, has been spared to make this a really great dining experience. The set up is stunning, the food amazing, the service slick and professional and the food ... did I say it before ... amazing. We started with the Arancini Balls to share and then moved on ... highly recommend the cold eat platter (delicious house cured meats in true Italian style) and the spaghetti marinara was great. Loved the fact that the Tiramisu was served from a large bowl. Keep up the good work ... perhaps you could have had one more person on the floor on a Friday lunch ?

“Red Pumpkin won me”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

Set in a former post office, this charming Italian restaurant is close to transport for the wine lover and offers the perfect venue for groups. My party of five catching up after a long time apart loved the food and service.

“A little bit of local bliss”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

What a find, just around the corner from home on old Greville.. A delicious wine bar and restaurant housed in the old Post Office building where you can quaff away an evening or afternoon.. or have yourself rolled out of there after what was a very generous portion of crab arancini, or the rather compelling pasta for 4. Service was brilliant, attentive without being in your face, the waiter even let me sample the 2 wines I was having trouble deciding between.. Cannot fault the place at all. Will definitely be back to work my way through the extnesive wine list, and top shelf menu.

“Good food and enjoyable venue”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

Zucca Rossa is in the old Greville St post office but you couldn't tell once inside as the room is very comfortable, modern but warm & inviting. Space is broken in to a bar area and dining room which looks on to the busy kitchen which is always fun I think.

Service was friendly and professional if a bit stretched at times. We were there on a Sunday night but the place was buzzing.

Choice of food was very good. Some sharing plates, salumis, starters for those not interested in sharing, good range of mains, pastas, salads etc.

We shared the crab arancinis, calamari, stuffed mushrooms, scallops with blood orange. All were well presented, cooked and tasty although the scallops needed something more - not quite sure what.

Pasta mains were all generous - my slow-roasted lamb and Lyn's marinara were both delicious. The marinari had some excellent seafood, large prawns, mussels, fish etc. Rissotto, duck were also very good.

Wine list is extensive with a good mix of local and italian. Needs a bit of work in the lower end of the price range as there are better wines to be had for that sort of money. Enjoyed the Poggerini Classico Chianti 2009 and the Port Philip 2011 chardonnay. Markups were OK.

Didn't really do desserts but biscotti and coffee were good.

Only disappointments:
- 3 of the dishes, including the 2 seafood and 1 vegetarian main were "sold out". And this was at about 7.45pm...
- our guests were late and rather than serve us some bread to keep us from starving, this was left until we had ordered food. Half an hour without something was a bit ordinary.

Anyway, not enough to detract from an enjoyable meal but stops it getting 5 stars.

Prices were all quite reasonable although wine might have been a bit on the high side.
