The Smith is doing something right. This place is bustling with activity even on a Wednesday evening. I think it's the modern, clean and fresh feel the restaurant emanates along with a focus on a small, but rich menu of great selections.

The menu is categorized by "Mouthful", "Tastes", "Fish & Meat" and "On the Side". This might be self-explanatory, but just in case, mouthfuls are the smallest plates - appetizers. Tastes are light tapas dishes.

When we visited, they had tempura king prawn filled betel leaves as an appetizer. These were awesome. If they're available when you go, I highly recommend them. Then, I can also attest to the quality and taste of the rib eye with hot mustard horseradish - really good!

Our group of four went on the recommendation of our friends' son. The pub has the currently popular hard surfaces so is quite noisy and our table was close to the open kitchen too. We were told by our waiter that the food is designed to share, in small entree sized portions, but as with many of these concepts a little silly as dishes often come with, say, three portions, which is unhelpful when the table is four.
Generally the food wasn't bad; the pork ribs just fell apart to a fork.
However, as a yardstick, oysters were $4.50 each, which is over the top. We had 4 entree size plates, 3 deserts, 8 drinks and 2 coffees between us, with a bill of over $250.

We ate here for a birthday treat as an adult family group of 8 on a Friday night. The food was good and the service was as good as could be expected, given the circumstances. The prices were at the upper end ($35-40 for mains). But all of that is irrelevant!
I do not know how the state health department could possibly allow this venue to remain open! The noise levels were seriously dangerous! If this were a worksite, everyone would gave to wear earplugs. Indeed, for the waiters, it is a workplace!
We could not hear each other, nor the waiter, so we had to point to our food selections. At one stage one of our group tested the noise level by screaming at the top of his voice. No one, not even those at the other end of our own table, could hear it! And this was in the "quieter" dining room upstairs. It was worse downstairs.
My ears were ringing when we left this restaurant. This place needs to be closed down until the acoustics are sorted out. It is a danger!

This place is seriously stylish, with a hip crowd of upmarket diners.
I can see why, after dining here. Fresh oysters with crabmeat and coriander, betel leaves with house cured salmon, John Dory, steamed barra... this place is GOOD! Friendly, efficient service too.
