Took my family to Melbourne to stay for a week. The apartments do not look like the pictures on the website. they are old and dirty. The kitchen was full of old appliances that no longer worked. The bathroom had paint peeling off. The couches were old, the carpets were dirty and the parking was terrible. Find somewhere better...

We stayed almost 2 weeks. Great value for money, especially the full kitchen was nice. Cooking yourself may save you loads of money in Melbourne. Place is a bit old fashioned (the pics on their website look much nicer than it is in reality), but it is complete. It was a bit cold due to having no heating and no isolation. Apartment was serviced every 2 days, but they seemed to skip the vacuuming a couple of times. When we asked they promptly did it the same day.
When we wanted to extend the stay, Perry from reception made sure we could stay in the same apartment, which was great. He did a perfect job in service.

I would have given 5 points, but they screwed up with our mail. We asked about 4 times if they could let us know if any mail arrived for us and gave a phone number after we left. They promised they would give us a call, but a week later it turned out that they had sent all mail return to sender, with the excuse that they didn't know. No real apology was offered by the girl I spoke to. This put us in a bit of a problem spot, because now we had to reapply for all sorts of official documentation and we couldn't access our australian bank account for another 2 weeks. If they had not promised us they would contact us, we would not have relied on them. Too bad, because this gave a bit of a wry goodbye to a further good place. It must be said: after complaining on the website they apologized.

Room Tip: We stayed in a one bedroom apartment. Good value, expecially the full kitchen.

It was quiet, spacious and clean. Close to trams to Chapple st and good value for money. We had no problems.

Room Tip: There is no lift so people who are wheelchair bound are out.

I stayed here on a weekend trip to Melbourne a few months ago. I booked the room first and then checked trip advisor where I read many reviews talking about how bad it is. When we arrived late Friday evening I was pleasantly surprised. Yes it is very basic (you can't expect 5* for $100/night) but it was clean, well located and as we were arriving after hours,I had been sent a message clearly instructing where to collect my keys from. I would not recommend this if you are looking for somewhere nice for a romantic stay. However,if you need a roof over your head and don't mind basic amenities then this place fits the bill.

Room Tip: The photos on the website are not a good representation. They make the rooms look a lot brighter and...

We recently stayed here during the Easter holidays..was the cheapest place to stay in Melbourne during this peak period. We stayed with our two young children in No 13. Even though we had to travel up 2 flights of stairs, the apartment was very spacious and had a bath, digital TV and DVD and great storage! Close to the city with a short distance walk to catch a tram. Driving to the city was easy as well. Nearby was Chapel Street shopping which has a safeway, coles and heaps of shopping!! There was also a park nearby for the kids to walk to! The apartment was an older style but was clean and neat and had an updated bathroom. Would be happy to stay there again as the price is very reasonable and cheap. The receptionist was very helpful and there was also a book in the room that told you which trams/buses to catch and nearby places to eat.

2 bedroom apartment was very clean and spacious. Felt very much like a home away from home. So close to trams and handy to restaurants. Would definitely recommend for the budget conscious.

We've been staying at the Armadale Apartments on and off now for close to 20 years. To be honest, we have a love/hate relationship with the place but we keep going back. We have family who live locally so the location is perfect for us. There's a tram stop just outside the apartments so you can be in the centre of Melbourne in 20 mins., and Chapel Street Prahran is a pleasant 15 mins walk. Over the years we've used both 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments and all-in-all the 1-bedroom have worked out better. They have a reasonably sized bedroom with comfortable bed(s) and plenty of hanging and shelf space. There is a separate lounge with sofa, ancient analogue TV (please, oh please, update to digital soon! The Aussie TV broadcast channels are dire!), phone, and a kichenette off, fully equipped with oven, hobs, microwave, fridge, sink, drainer, and plenty of glassware, crockery and cutlery. There is an air-conditioner/ heating unit. The bathroom has a tiny bath with a decent shower over, and a separate toilet. The apartments are fully serviced (but only once a week if your stay is a few days), they are noticibly dated, and standards of decoration and maintenance vary. They are definitely not what you would call luxurious, but they have everything you need. There is ample free parking, and a guest coin-operated laundry. For its location, compared to Melbourne prices generally, this is good value. Apart from the decor, our only real gripe is that now and then, usually at the weekend, you get some noisy ya-hoos who think it's a good idea to be really loud in the car park or on the stairs yukking it up and slamming doors at 3am.
