Quaint cottage, spacious bathroom, beautiful garden. Daily breakfast and port and chocolates. Doug and Ruth were great in recommending places to go and eat. Love especially the vintage haunts. Feeding the alpacas up close was a highlight. It's a pity that due to the network, only one device can have wifi at one time.

Thank you for your most kind review.
All of us are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay as much as you did,
At this timer of year, it is sometimes not easy offer the attention that every guest is entitled to.
WiFi is a major concern to us as we receive a very poor service from Australia's largest provider, being in the country.
We sincerely apologise that we cannot offer a multiple device per cottage service, but it is something not in our control.
We very much hope that you may visit us again.
Once more, thank you for taking the time to review us

My boyfriend and I stayed one night in the studio apartment at Clonmara cottages and had a lovely time.
The hosts were super helpful and the apartment was wonderful with its spa bath and private balcony looking over a field of Alpacas.

Would highly recommend Clonmara cottages for a weekend escape with your significant other.

Like wet, cold & grumpy drowned rats is how my wife and I arrived via motorcycles from Mt Gambier to Clonmara. While dripping all over the floor I was introduced to Doug. The rest of the conversation was Doug pretty much saying bugger it with the registration and showing us to our room. Heater is there and on, "theres plenty of towels now go and have a shower " they were the next words from Doug. Yeah it gets better, an offer to grab a laundry basket and throw our very wet gear in the drier came next from Doug, Words cannot describe how grateful we are for this. We needed the gear dry for the next days riding, and we got it back warm and dry. THANK YOU BOTH. Our room / cottage was very nice and our perfect way to thore out. In between the bad weather I got to look around and also check out the alpacas. Holidays are all about experience not the thread count of the sheets on the bed, People make the experience..... I highly recommend Clonmara to anyone who stops in Port Fairy. We will definitely be back again.

We stayed there earlier this month for 3 nights, found Ruth, to be very friendly on check in and a wealth of knowledge about the local area. Unfortunately only met Doug as we were checking out due to him just arriving back from the UK. We were lucky to see the alpacas before they were shawn and after they were shawn. Found the unit (studio apartment) to contain everything you would need and very comfortable. Great also to be able to sit out on the patio in the afternoon and consume some local cheese with a nice wine, watching the sun go down and the alpacas spitting at each other. Only problem we found was the shower tended to all of a sudden go red hot without warning, causing my wife a few problems. Also found the wifi which is complimentary did not appear to be switched on for a lot of the time. Got on a couple of times but most of the time it wasn't popping up.
Very handy to most things in the town with a ten minute walk.
Never got a chance to try out the little cafe unfortunately.
But would definitely stay again and would recommend it to other travellers.

Room Tip: We stayed in the studio apartment (one of two) it was very quiet and we could not hear the guests ne...

Thank you for taking the time to review us and we very much appreciate all comments.
We are indeed very happy that you enjoyed your stay with us and do take note the two exceptions in your review.
The problem with continuous hot water service going intermittently hot and cold was fixed strait away and had you alerted us sooner we would at the least tried to relocate you.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We are never happy when a guest has an unpleasant experience.
We absolutely promise that we do not turn off the complimentary Wi Fi. It would defeat the whole purpose of offering it.
We do however have a fairly poor signal from Telstra who seem most reluctant to fix it.
We will be using your comments in a report that we will be issuing Telstra with, shortly.
It is a battle to get a half decent wireless connection in this area. We do unfortunately have no substitute at his time.
Again, many thanks for your review and we hope very much that we might have the pleasure of your company again, when will not have water heater problem. The Wi Fi is unfortunately in the hands of the Gods and Telstra.

Very cute little cottages surrounded by gorgeous gardens. 15 minute walk to town. The owner was lovely and no request was ever too much. She even let us come with her to feed her alpacas who live next door! The scones at the tea house were beautiful! Overall very quaint and would highly recommend.

Thank you for taking the time to review us on Trip Advisor.
We note that you were not entirely happy with the location however.
We would not be able offer lovely cottage gardens and Alpacas in the centre of town and try to offer an alternative experience for those wishing to get way. We obviously did not quitter fulfil your needs and for that we apologise but still hope you will come back and enjoy our food on another occasion.
Again, thank you for your comments, we value all customer comments.

We agree entirely with recent reviews. The attention to detail and many unexpected little touches make all the difference.Fresh towels were provided on each day of our stay together with complimentary toffees chocolates and port. The tea room is worth supporting. We had little opportunity to do so but after tasting the scones wish we had more time to sample more.

It is always good hear that someone was not able to complete all their wishes. That way. we may have the pleasure of your company again!
Our Tea Rooms do enjoy a reasonably high profile on Trip Advisor and we obviously value that a well. So, please come back.

Chose Clonmara for a surprise get away weekend for our wedding anniversary and it didn't disappoint. "A little bit of the UK at the end of the Great Ocean road" as one of the brochures describes this excellent B&B and Tea Rooms, and the promise of Kippers for breakfast for my Scottish born wife, seemed just the ticket.

Having spent many a night in UK B&Bs, Doug and Ruth could teach a few UK operators a thing or two about making their guests feel special. From my first contact with Doug to set up the weekend, to our farewell (with outstanding picnic hamper packed for the trip home) nothing was too much trouble. Doug even rang the week before to advise he had to make a rush trip to the UK and as the stand in chef couldn't start until 9am would a late breakfast be OK? It certainly was and cooked to perfection as well.

Attention to detail and a complete focus on ensuring their guests receive an enjoyable travel experience is the hallmark of Clonmara. On arrival, Ruth made us feel immediately welcome, and marked a few places of interest, and a great walking suggestion, on the local map. The gas fire was lit in our studio apartment, and the bed was extremely comfortable, as was the spa in the oversized ensuite bathroom, complete with bath salts, large fluffy towels, and soft and comfy bathrobes. When combined with a compact balcony facing through some trees to the open paddocks beyond (complete with Alpacas), and the peace and tranquility of the surrounds, the whole package made for a most relaxing weekend.

Breakfast on the first morning was excellent and as the weather was fine and warm, we took advantage of the beautiful garden courtyard. Our Dinner choice on Saturday night (seafood platter and a cheese platter to finish) was perfectly prepared and more than enough for both of us All delivered exactly as requested (and the candles were a lovely touch - thanks Ruth). Enjoyed a traditional Devonshire tea (with generous scones, real country style jam and thick cream), and another great breakfast in the compact tea room, surrounded with appropriate in-character and some quirky decorations (most for sale). Our only regret was that our journey into town and the surrounding region meant we couldn't check out the lunch menu. Maybe next time.

Others have described the accommodation and gardens in more detail so will not repeat here but if a relaxing weekend in Port Fairy in homely, affordable luxury accommodation, and outstanding customer service from the hosts, are what you are looking for, then Clonmara fits the bill with ease.

Room Tip: Being farther set back from the main road, a bit bigger and with a balcony facing onto open space (a...
