This is a gorgeous little place to stay while visiting Port Fairy. We were stopping in for the night so decided to stay in one of the quaint little attic rooms. Yes these rooms are small but that didn't bother us as it had everything we needed. A very comfy double bed with crisp clean white bed linen and a good sized little ensuite with large fluffy bath towels. The rooms are beautifully presented and I noticed how clean this place was, not a trace of dust or anything to be seen and you can see the owners take great pride and care in keeping the place well maintained. We had access to the common areas where there was an open wood fire, tea and coffee making facilities and plenty of magazines to read. We liked the free wifi as well. Would definitely stay here again when visiting Port Fairy.

Room Tip: Attic room 5 was beautiful and very quiet with a comfy double bed and cute attic window overlooking...

I don't think we could have picked a more atmospheric and gorgeous place to stay in beautiful Port Fairy. When we arrived we were welcomed by the chef with flour on her apron - there was an aroma of some kind of lemon dessert in the kitchen - this place has so much good old-fashioned soul! The evening meal was very special indeed. The chef is one talented lady. I think she uses herbs, flowers, vegetables and fruit from the gardens at the inn. The guest rooms were clean and lovely but not fancy. The location was perfect right near the port. Fabulous value and an unforgettable experience!

A beautiful place to stay, lovely to sit in the garden and enjoy a drink in the sun. Queen room was excellent, en suite and small lounge room. Unfortunately we did not stay on a night where the restaurant was open (only serving dinner Thurs-Mon) but the Inn is within walking distance of great local eateries. It is also across the road from the wharf, and great fish and chip restaurant. Breakfast at the Inn was outstanding and the host lovely. Would definitely return.

We stayed for 2 nights on a Living Social voucher so we didn't expect too much, but were pleasantly surprised with the value and quality of our stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
We stayed in a Queen room which was very clean and spacious and included a separate loungeroom with TV and fireplace. I believe the Inn is the oldest in Victoria and even though they have modernised slightly inside, it still retains most of its original fixtures and structure. Bathroom however was a little small and very basic, but was adequate. Dinner in restaurant was quite expensive, and I have never seen such a long wine list! Breakfast was so yummy and the chef in the kitchen really knows her stuff. Location was great, 10 minute walk to town and across the road from the fishing boats moored on the river. You can sometimes hear the waves from your room! Overall, had a lovely time and would definitely go back.

Room Tip: We had a Queen room which was great

I stayed at the merrijig inn after purchasing a deal on Living social. The rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable although could do with updating. The bathrooms were very tired and the water pressure poor. We ate in the restaurant on both nights and while the food was good, I have had much better for the prices they were charging. The quality was similar to a good pub food in Melbourne although at migh higher prices. Breakfast was good and was pleasant sitting in the conservatory. Location was great, across from the marina and walking distance into the main street. I would stay again in a flash as I felt very comfortable and it is like a home away from home. If a bit of money was spent on upgrading they could truly call this 5 star but it would only be about 3 at the moment

Room Tip: Dont get the room near the small kitchen downstairs. You hear everyone making tea and coffee and th...

We stayed here in August 2012. We cannot but recommend the inn highly enough. The staff are wonderful, helpfull and they are damn good chefs!
Our room was room 3, which was rather large and airy, with en suite bath and shower/toilet. The bed was a queen and firm with good quality linen. We had an open fireplace just outside our room which staff light about 3 pm. We tried not to hog it but we seemed to be the only couple enjoying it. The inn is very old but tastefully decorated, in fact it was beutifully appointed. This is really a home away from home. We had the breakfast each morning. Everthing cooked was either locally obtained or grown on the grounds. Again, we were very impressed with the cooked breakfast as it was of really good returant quality.
Port Fairy is a pretty location and the Merijig Inn is a credit to it's owners and staff.

Room Tip: Try room 3 as it appears to be the biggest.

We overnighted here after a lovely day on the Great Ocean Road. We stayed in the King Room, with not just a King size bed, but our own cosy lounge to sprawl on after a cracking menu for dinner. Breakfast was a highlight, with local produce covering the breakfast table, the rhubarb and yoghurt on our muesli was delicious.
