I stayed at the merrijig inn after purchasing a deal on Living social. The rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable although could do with updating. The bathrooms were very tired and the water pressure poor. We ate in the restaurant on both nights and while the food was good, I have had much better for the prices they were charging. The quality was similar to a good pub food in Melbourne although at migh higher prices. Breakfast was good and was pleasant sitting in the conservatory. Location was great, across from the marina and walking distance into the main street. I would stay again in a flash as I felt very comfortable and it is like a home away from home. If a bit of money was spent on upgrading they could truly call this 5 star but it would only be about 3 at the moment

Room Tip: Dont get the room near the small kitchen downstairs. You hear everyone making tea and coffee and th...

We stayed here in August 2012. We cannot but recommend the inn highly enough. The staff are wonderful, helpfull and they are damn good chefs!
Our room was room 3, which was rather large and airy, with en suite bath and shower/toilet. The bed was a queen and firm with good quality linen. We had an open fireplace just outside our room which staff light about 3 pm. We tried not to hog it but we seemed to be the only couple enjoying it. The inn is very old but tastefully decorated, in fact it was beutifully appointed. This is really a home away from home. We had the breakfast each morning. Everthing cooked was either locally obtained or grown on the grounds. Again, we were very impressed with the cooked breakfast as it was of really good returant quality.
Port Fairy is a pretty location and the Merijig Inn is a credit to it's owners and staff.

Room Tip: Try room 3 as it appears to be the biggest.

We overnighted here after a lovely day on the Great Ocean Road. We stayed in the King Room, with not just a King size bed, but our own cosy lounge to sprawl on after a cracking menu for dinner. Breakfast was a highlight, with local produce covering the breakfast table, the rhubarb and yoghurt on our muesli was delicious.

Booked this based on other reviews on trip advisor and could not agree more. Lovely clean rooms, warm cosy area for relaxing by the fire and "home baked"bikkies presented still warm for snacks.! We stayed on a stormy night accompanied by constant bucketing rainfall, so booked dinner in restaurant. Very glad we did, Delicious food and great service and just a little corridor back to our comfy rooms.

Room Tip: Ground floor has queen beds, upstairs a little tight with narrow stairway but we were advised when b...

The four of us stayed for two nights in the loft rooms which, whilst small were comfortable. Anymore than two nights would start to be a drag though. The beds were extremely comfortable and the doonas nice and warm.

The service from the staff is very friendly and attentive, lots of good advice about the surrounding area.

The breakfasts were delicious, not too much overdone cuisine, just simple ,fresh and tasty food. The fresh baked bread each morning was special.

We had dinner on our first night and the food was tasty and hearty, the menu changes daily to reflect whats fresh ! A great wine list.

Our king suite had bedroom with large, comfy warm bed, a lounge room with tv, a bathroom with bath, hot shower, toilet, sink etc and through our door a kitchenette with tea, coffee supplies. Which we took back to our rooms.
We came with a storm, so appreciated the warm cozy atmosphere with all the sweet little nic nacs.
Reminded me of my youth. It was a very wild and wooly night, but we were snug as a bug in a rug!
Breakfast was provided with usual cereals, home made breads and jams, delicious, we had scrambled eggs and bacon too. The conservatory was bright and cheery.
There are lovely little snugs hidden in this cottage, places to hide and read, or chat.
Definitely a place we would stay again.
