The Coach House at The Pheasant
Certificate of Excellence

We booked through secret escapes and thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay. On arrival we were welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine. We stayed in the Gainsborough suite everything was immaculate, and the fridge with cold drinks as well as coffee and tea making facilites very welcome. The award winning food was sensational every food item was either grown by James and Diana or sourced locally, very few food miles to consider. Seasonal produce was used to it's best advantage we enjoyed a delicious beetroot and vegetable soup served with rustic granary bread, so good we ate it twice. The toiletries in the huge bathroom with power shower smelt devine, and every member of staff without exception were amazingly helpful and knowledgeable. The surrounding area it even has it's own castle, and easy to reach areas such as Cambridge and Bury St Edmunds well worth a visit.
James and Diana were very hospitable. It was nice to have the accomodation so close no need to travel I am sure we will visit again this was excellent value for money we had both breakfast and a three course evening meal as part of the deal and didn't need any lunch.
a memorable stay well worth a second visit.

We stayed one night recently at the Coach House and it was wonderful. Our room was immaculate and extremely well appointed. The owners (Diana and James) seem to have thought of everything and we had a very comfortable stay. The prosecco on arrival was a nice touch. As others have said, the food was excellent, I can highly recommend the belly pork and beetroot mash! Love the fact that they home grow produce and source meat locally too. I can't praise the Pheasant and its staff enough, we will be back and hopefully for a longer stay next time.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Thomas Gainsborough room which was spacious with a comfy sofa, walk in dressing roo...

Bought a travelzoo voucher for 2 course lunch/dinner. It was delicious! We added a dessert as well because we were so impressed . . . . and then bought a couple of prints by a local artist whose work is displayed around the walls . . . and had a great chat with one of the friendly staff.
All in all a very pleasant experience! Not quite close enough to be our local but certainly near enough to be visited regularly.

We stayed here through Secret Escapes and would thouroughly reccomend this establishment.
We had the Captain Oates suite and it was perfect. We had a lovely comfortable bed with a lounge area. The bathroom had a jacuzi bath and large shower cubicle (big enough for 2). Diane is a perfect host and the food is cooked by her husband which is of an excellent standard. We particularly liked the slow roasted belly pork and the lamb confit, the beetroot mash was perfect. This an ideal location as it is in the country and of the beaten track with lovely views.

I think the owners have got this spot on - nice blend of old fashioned pub feel with top class food and friendly staff, and excellent accommodation. The Pheasant Beer is just right and the relaxed fresh cooked breakfast was a great start to the day. Will definitely return.

Room Tip: Room with a view to rear of accommodation has great views of countryside

Having discovered this gem 3 weeks ago we have been back twice and each time we walk away more impressed with the food!!

The staff are friendly, the service is quick and considering the quality of food it is very well priced

I woke up this morning craving the chicken pate and pork belly which I had the night before, the egg sandwich i settled for didnt quite cut it!!
