“Gotta go - Way beyond our expectations!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2013

We were late arriving in town (9.30) as we had been photographing the spectacular coastal scenery at sunset. Most establishments had signs 'kitchen closed'! But hey 'Waves' staff were friendly and welcoming. We had a fantastic evening dining experience. We ordered a vegetarian tart each accompanied by salad, not that we are vegetarians but It looked like something we'd like to try. It was really delicious - 'right up there'.
If you like 'sticky date pudding' then Waves recipe is 'just superb'. My wife had the rhubarb crumble and she assures me that was also fantastic. From our experience this establishment was 'tops', just a shame we don't live just around the corner, then Waves would be on our 'must call in regularly' list. PS: The place was pretty full and that usually speaks volumes. Thanks team for a really great dining experience.

“Smooth tasting beer”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2013

Stopped in here just to have a few beers outside the standard VB or Carlton Draught fare that's available pretty much everywhere around Victoria. I had a couple of local beers from Otway Estate and Red Duc - both were outstanding. (From memory one of them was called Chainsaw. A brilliant drop.) You can get your normal beer from the local pub, but for my money stop into Waves for a chance to enjoy a local drop. Won't disappoint.

“Blown away”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2013

We turned up on a Monday night - to find just one table occupied .We were pretty concerned - the pub was really busy, and we wondered why Waves was near empty..

The menu looked great, so we dived in. Within 30 minutes, the place had filled completely up and was heaving with people.

It would pay to book - this was a Monday night, and we never expected it to be so busy.

Food was fantastic, but the service didn't quite match (waitresses forgot simple requests like table water).

“Fantastic Dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 29, 2013

After reading some reviews we were unsure, but given the choice in Port Campbell, decided to try Waves. Everything was excellent. Our waitress was sweet and attentive, the oysters were exceptional - we are big oyster eaters and usually have them raw, but the battered oysters were just great. The chicken liver pâté rivalled that in France and the main dishes were also very good. Only small drawback is that we went a bit late and they were out of certain types of fish, but accommodated me and changed sides. And that the dessert menu looked so good that we couldn't resist The affogoto was excellent. Since it was a holiday weekend, no one was turned away and they kept serving food until way after the normal closing time. Next time in the area, we will definitely go back.

Good food and excellent value. Good choices and service. Something for everyone with outside eating available but the day was too windy!
