“Rustic and fun”

We stayed at Drift Away cottage which is removed from the other cottages. Kids loved it, it was rustic and covered all requirements. Chickens were a big hit with our family. Enjoyed our stay.

We stayed in the old house/cottage 4km from Eastern Reef main complex. This was an old farm house. This was by far the most expensive and least value for money of all the similar style of accommodation we stayed in during our great Ocean Road trip - all booked through similar sites. The cottage has no heating apart from a log fire - a little tricky to light. The bed was comfortable but a long way from the bathroom at other end of house. A rustic, rural experience at luxury prices!

We have been going to Eastern Reef for 6 years now. We normally go on the queens birthday holiday weekend.
We lobe going there. Sue and Vince have done a great job with the the cottages and they are all very comfy for a short stay. We are yet to stay in the Driftaway cottage, but that will happen on the next trip.
Great brekkie basket for you, nice and quiet place to stay. Love hearing the cows moo-ing and the birds a chirping away.
Dont eat in town, hit the road and go in Timboon or the Boggy Creek pub for a meal. Lots little towns around to go looking in and not to far from Warnambool.

Our 15 year old daughter had been on a student leadership for 5 weeks (out of 9). We hadn't seen her or heard her voice for all that time. It was parent visiting weekend and I just wanted somewhere cosy, warm, friendly and comfortable so we could all catch up and chat. THIS WAS PERFECT. A wonderful homely cottage with great character, far enough away from others and all set up with everything we needed. The open plan is great with a large comfy lounge suite that we all relaxed in and chatted for hours. The girls had their own area upstairs for them to get time together until the early hours of the morning. Everything was clean and well kept. Port Campbell was close by for some lovely country strolling and shopping, finished with a great seafood meal in one of the restaurants. And then to wake up to the sound of breaking waves in the surf. I'm so glad I booked the Eastern Reef Cottage. My wife wanted to buy it for our retirement. A great weekend for the family. We'll be back for longer. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Room Tip: The Eastern Reef Cottage is FULLY contained - Fantastic character

After travelling for 2 weeks and staying in 4 and 5 star hotel rooms we booked drift away cottage after realising we could not do the next drive within one day and seeing all the sights on the great ocean road. Owner stated it wasnt luxury accommodation but we were suprsed to find a really cute, quirky cottage, fire was on and roaring away when we walked in and the cottage is far roomier than you can see on first arrival. Beds so comfy anda good hot shower, a really cosy night was had in a welcome environment after the initial thoughts when we walked through the door! Well done Susan!

We stayed here when travelling up the great ocean road.
We stayed in the Bay Reef cottage. For two nights it was perfect.

The people were really friendly and made us feel at home.

The room was clean and comfortable. It was a short drive from the 12 Apostles. It was only a few minutes drive from the main centre.

Definitely a nice place to stay if you want something of good value.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2010

Six of us spent a night in the cottage next to the main entrance. To our surprise, the cottage we stayed in doesn't actually have any room. There was one double bed in the hall downstairs, one double and 2 single beds upstairs. This was the first time I slept on a bed placed next to the living, dining and kitchen together. The 2nd floor felt like an oven when we arrived in the evening and there was only one fan provided to ventilate. The aircon downstairs obviously couldnt cool the 2nd floor effectively. We had to open the windows upstairs to cool the place. The next morning we discovered tens of mosquito bites on me and my 2 kids face and neck.
