We particularly liked the TV area with sofas and blankets where you can watch your movies. Kitchen was really well organized with a big central counter (16 cooking zones) and several sinks and fridges.
People here were nice.
The hostel has been refurbished and renovated recently so beds and mattress are really nice and clean, and rooms pretty spacious.
Really quiet at night.
Car park near the entrance.
Internet not too expensive.
You get 1/2 hour free internet if you book via Hostelworld.

The things we disliked are the open shower cabins : they are located in the corridor, not totally closed so people can hear you taking a shower, same for toilets. What a total lack of intimacy ! Especially for a renovated hostel, I wonder who organized that.

Otherwise it is a great place to stay !

We stayed in a 6 bed dorm for 1 night and it was great.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, showers and toilets were very clean and kitchen area was great. Short walk to main street and they even gave us a voucher for a backpacker meal at one of the restaurants!

Only thing I did not like was that the hot water turns off from 10.30pm - 6.30am (showers are very close to rooms so they don’t want people making too much noise).

I would recommend staying here.

G'day Emma C, and thanks for your review! You've struck on a few of the main things we reckon we're about... friendly and helpful staff (and we're locals so you get to see a very local flavour in our conduct); we're spotlessly clean (thank Viv and Sammy for that!); we've got great amenities suiting the backpacking fraternity and we're really, really close to everything in Port Campbell.

We also recently altered the timers controlling the hot water supply to our upstairs showers - they now remain steaming hot 'till 11.00pm and spring back to life 6 hours later, at 5.00am. So, more time to get under a hot shower and do what ya gotta under the water!

Finally, thanks for your recommendation for others to stay here. We reckon we're a pretty darn good hostel, designed specifically for backpackers, with prety much everything a backpacker could ask for.

Cheers: Tony, Bec, Viv, Sammy and the curly haired two year old that bounces around the place, Claire

We stayed in a double room for one night. Whole hostel is spotlessly clean, modern with minimalist decor. It has an interesting layout with rooms down one side of the upstairs corridor and shower/toilet cublicles directly opposite. While it stays clean and modern, that feels very convenient and a neat way to arrange it. The "water reuse" toilets with a sink mounted on top of the cistern were a novelty, but I can see why they won't catch on (gushing tap bouncing off your hands and all over the place).

Enough said - we both thought it was perhaps the cleanest hostel we'd ever stayed in! And our room was hugely spacious!

Stayed here on our trip down ocean road. Very close to twelve apostles. Hostel offers trips and information and reception staff are friendly and helpful. The lounge area was very open with lots of seating and the dining room was basic. The kitchen had areas to store your food and good facilities. The bedrooms were basic bunks but the beds were surprisingly comfy. The shower and toilet areas were exposed but what you would expect from a hostel. I would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Hi there, and thanks heaps for your review!!! We're happy that you chose to bunk down with us in our hostel. Many of our other guests also comment on the points you make... our huge, open plan lounge area, the kitchen (heaps of guests cook up a storm in there!) and the comfort of those beds.

If you're ever down this way again, you are more than welcome to drop in for another nights stay - in fact, bring your mates and some cold drinks!!! Let's make a night of it!

Cheers
Tony, Rebecca and Claire

Hi M! Thanks for putting pen to paper, and lodging your review. (And you're correct - we are a no-frills accommodator, which many other guests have made comments about. In fact, I'd reckon the two most consistent comments we get are about the 'no frills' style of our accommodation, and our cleanliness... and I reckon one goes hand-in-hand with the other!)

If you're ever down our end of the Great Ocean Road again seeking some budget digs, or simply want to drop in for a coffee and a chat, you're always welcome!

Cheers

Tony, Bec and (our curly-haired 2 y.o.) Claire
