We booked a two bedroom with an ocean view and was not disappointed. Great location overlooking pier and easy walk to the cafe strip and eats of the town centre. The hotel in dining is very good. Great comfy room and good value for money. Thanks to the staff for a great stay.

We booked a two room apartment just a day before arriving. Based on all the reviews, we were rather afraid of what we would get. When we arrived, I checked us in and was told we were upgraded to a three room apartment.

Covered car park is around the corner from the hotel lobby, each apartment has their own car park bay. The person who checked us in, gave me a map showing me exactly which bay we had to park in and which set of staircase to take to get to our room(please be aware there are no lifts from the car park to the rooms). Our room was located on 1st floor so only two flights of steps(from car park to ground floor and then one more flight up). Apartment is big and relatively clean. The kitchen was well equipped although we did not use it to cook at all, they provide tea bags, coffee and sugar sachets, two small cartons of long life milk in the fridge. There's also a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer and a few packets of laundry detergent.

Two of the three rooms had heaters, as did the living room/kitchen area. THis apartment can easily sleep up to 7 to 8 quite comfortably.

Huge balcony with barbeque cooker outside. It faces the pier which is a great view, you can see people fishing on the pier almost at all times of the day and night. In the mornings, some of the local birds(cockatoos) will come and perch on the balcony, looking for food.

There are shops just around the corner, we had great fish and chips for dinner that night.

Overall my family and I liked this place very much. I was later told that this is actually a private apartment, hence each unit is owned by different owners. These are NOT serviced apartments hence the need to clear the rubbish and wash up your own dishes etc before you leave. The serviced apartment just around the corner charges more since they provide this service. We didn't really have any issues as the instructions are actually printed on the map and also after reading several reviews from here. Just be aware and you'll be fine.

Room Tip: Was in Apartment 17, no complaints. Request made when booking was non-smoking and sea facing.

I stayed here with my partner just before Christmas.
The location is terrific, slightly away from the main commercial area of Lorne which is just a minute drive or a pleasant walk away. The hotel is opposite the Lorne Pier, a wonderful structure nice for a stroll in the afternoon when the fishermen are setting up.
The hotel is a well maintained old style pub, but no resemblance of a pub.
It takes full advantage of the magnificent views with dining facilities located next to large windows. It had a well appointed bistro with a good varied menu. The staff were professional and friendly and happy to accommodate my fussy menu requirements. A good wine selection is also on offer. The bistro serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
We stayed in room 14 on the first floor facing the sea. The views were great. The room had a king sized bed, very comfortable, champagne and chocolates on arrival. Facilities are all those expected, such as colour TV, fridge, coffee/tea making facilities, wardrobe, iron/ironing board, fan, heater. Our floor had access to the wonderful veranda typical of these buildings, offering a great spot for reading, relaxing and admiring the view.
The bathroom was impeccably clean, with ample towels and toiletries. Shower had good water pressure.
The only negative is the noise. Being an older building, you can hear other guests footsteps on floor above us by the creaking floorboards. The music and guests at the bistro on the ground floor can also be heard from the room. If you are a light sleeper, afternoon naps may be out of the picture. Early nights may also be difficult.
I would stay here again.

We drove to great ocean road without booking a hotel, it went dark and we got tired so we did a search on trip advisor and selected this hotel based on the review. We asked if we could have an ocean view room and luckily there is one left, it turned out to be one of the best rooms in the hotel with 180 degree view facing the ocean. The nice guy also offered us with free breakfast! The variety of food is great and we both had our seconds. We will definitely go back again.

Room Tip: request ocean view room on the higher floor

We booked a room for a family of four and we had two bedrooms. It was very spacious and clean. We stayed for one day only and out of the 24 hours, we stayed only 21 hrs. We had to check out by 10.00am. (check in 02.00pm to 10.00am)We requested a late check out till 12.00pm, but they only permitted upto 11.00am.

You also have to take out all the garbage and throw it in the bin in front of the hotel, otherwise we will be charged as they have our CC details. Just to vacuum, clean toilets and make up the beds, they require 4 hrs. The price was not cheap, for the same price we could have stayed in a 4 star hotel in Europe or Melbourne.
The only redeeming factor is -- The Lorne Pier is walking distance and at the entrance to the pier there is a good restaurant that serves good sea food.

Room Tip: I could not locate any lifts for senior citizens.

On arrival we discovered that there were no elevators and having a fair amount of luggage this was a small problem, however I just grabbed what I needed and the manager did offer a hand if needed.
The room was quite small but a very comfortable bed and by contrast the bathroom was huge. I am guessing the old bathroom that probably served the whole of the 2nd floor. Unfortunately we did not have an ocean facing room, so we had to sit on the veranda with our coffee to enjoy the view.
The down side was the size of the bedroom, although fine for sleeping, the shower was OK but just the tiny touch of cold water and the whole shower went cold, but once sussed no problem. And the location is a little bit further out of town.
Overall though we had a great night with the dinner specials and they were very nice and the staff were friendly and helpful.

We recently had a wedding at The Grand Pacific right opposite the pier in Lorne. Its a great position with stunning views. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and totally organised with regard to the wedding, nothing was too much for them which ensured that it all ran smoothly. The meal was great; it was not like the usual boring wedding food. There are rooms in the old, original part of the hotel and also modern apartments behind; everyone seemed pleased with their accommodation but the beds were not very comfortable. Tip: If you have a wedding there, make sure that all your guests say that they are attending the wedding when booking and phone them or email to book. Some of our guests omitted to do this and as the bookings were blocked out for the wedding, they were told that the hotel was full. Online showed that the hotel was full too.
