“Charming hotel”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

My daughter and I shared a King room on the first floor. We stayed for 2 nights this week and loved the charm of the hotel and the lovely people that work there. Everyone was friendly and hospitable. The buffet breakfast was good value. The rooms are not modern by any means and the water pressure is rather challenging, but we were happy to overlook this, as we knew the hotel is rather old. The carpet in the room was a little worn and marked, but once again, it is not a big deal. Loved the shared varanda, which has the most beautiful view across the ocean and the pier. Waking up to this was so relaxing. The restaurant has a great atmoshere and the fire was perfect for a late night hot chocolate. I loved the old world charm of the hotel and would definately return here again. Perhaps I would book a spa room, which looks bigger and more spacious, with the bonus of a spa! The short walk in to town was lovely - beach path or road path. Gorgeous........................

Room Tip: Choose ocean view and if the budget allows, book the spa room as the one I saw is bigger and slightl...

Grand pacific hotel was class from checkin to checkout 2 nights later.
Firstly they matched the price offered on Wotif and even upgraded!
The cost of $120 for Fri and a sat night was great. Breakfast both days was included, bottle of champagne and spa in bathroom.
The breakfast was yum and bonus that was from 9-11 am so sleep in appreciated.
Will be back.

Excellent, friendly staff service. I could not have felt more welcome. Great food, gorgeous setting by the sea, in this old Victorian Hotel. Only minus was, that there is no elevator and I had just injured my back and had difficulty getting upstairs but they changed my room to the first floor so it was okay.

Room Tip: Sea view a must

We were just cruising slowly down the coast but it was 4.00 pm and the sun was shining on the old hotel so we had to stop. With no reservations we were lucky it was a Friday and not a Saturday night. The 1st floor front room facing the sea was nice and spacious and the wide verandah with tables and chairs made a very pleasant place to have a few drinks. Quiet at night with no traffic so you can open the windows a bit. Dinner was good, reasonably priced and the place was really busy. In the morning breakfast only starts at 9.00 am which is pretty late for some tourists, so we had a pleasant stroll into town and enjoyed our light café breakfast with cheeky cockatoos watching us . Its really good to see this old hotel being maintained and well patronaged.

Room Tip: Geta front room

Recently escaped the teenagers, work and the hustle and bustle for a 3 day break. Grand Pacific was chosen a bit at random because of a good deal, not really knowing what to expect. Had a great stay in a charming, slightly run down, very relaxing and comfortable Victorian hotel.

We had a king room on the top floor overlooking the sea - absolutely brilliant view. Great, old fashioned wide verandah with chairs, etc. perfect for a glass of wine and a book or a chat with some of the other guests. Cookatoos flew right up and stood on my shoulder as I fed them a biscuit.

Food was very good pub fare and well priced. Ditto with wine. Staff were very friendly and accomodating as we experimented with desserts and cocktails.

Room Tip: Top floor, front of house, with a view of the sea. Last corner room on the town side has a spa. Bewa...

Our stay here was memorable for a 7.12 am wake-up on the first morning by the cleaning staff putting the bar disco music on full-bore while they started cleaning. After a 7.30 conversation with the cleaners, the music was turned down to what was best described as a low roar. Breakfast buffet was best described, in Australian terms, as pretty average and at $29 a head overpriced. Dinner is a reasonable " Aussie pub supper" level of cooking with a menu and wine list to match. The rooms, with the exception of the suite, which we were moved to after our early morning disco experience, are on the small side, slightly shabby and in need of refurbishing. On the plus side, the views are excellent, the two cockatoos who live on the upper balcony will allow you to share the space with them, and the bats who really get going at dusk, and the two pairs of sparrows who are nesting in the eaves

Room Tip: Keep away from Room 18 - it is just above the bar - unless you want to be woken to "Staying Ali...

Dear Ian G,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the Grand Pacific Hotel & Apartments.
I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed the fantastic views while you were here, the cockatoos are indeed at home on our top balcony and happy to entertain the guests.

I am glad you raised the issue of early noise from the bistro, we had not had that complaint before, but after we up-graded you to one of our King rooms, it was an issue that we were sure to address straight away & with urgency and it has not reoccurred since.

Our dinner and lunch menu is seasonal, fresh & ever changing, ranging from fresh seafood, steak as well as the much loved "Aussie Pub" favorites.

I am puzzled as to the $29 price tag you mentioned for our buffet breakfast!
Our buffet breakfast has always been $17.50 per person, as advertised on our website, at reception and menus, with a further discount for our in house guests. Which we are proud to say is currently the best value breakfast in town!

I hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip in Australia,

Warm Regards,

Samia
