had dinner with a group of 5 and had an extremely enjoyable night.
Excellant service after moving tables a number of times to get out of the drafts. Staff reacted very professionaly and made us feel very welcome. Food is wonderful .The veal is the best I've had for a long time.
Good wine list that is not to heavy on top priced bottles; a nice change.

Why is it so hard for regional towns to find staff that have any clues about service? After arriving for breakfast on a weekend morning when it was less than a third full, we waited 5 minutes to be seated and saw no one so seated ourselves. We then waited a further 5 minutes before even seeing a waitress who tried to avoid eye contact with us. After just about rugby tackling her, asked if we could order a coffee, she advised she'd get a menu for us before taking a coffee order... Another 5-10 minutes. We should have walked out by then but persisted. Finally we ordered and after another 25 minute wait the food and coffee was ok... If they could find decent staff, this place may be ok. But without it, don't bother.

With another couple, we tried this relatively new restaurant on the Sunday of the Labour Day weekend. We've tried many eateries in Lorne over the years and have been disappointed often. We chose this one for its reputation and magic views of the beach and the Main Street.

After accepting the $15 corkage to bring our own bottle of wine (or should that be "screwage"!!), three of us ordered the prawns while one had a pizza. There was a long delay between the pizza arriving and the prawns turning up, which created a slightly awkward situation. To make things worse, the prawns were barely warm, which wasn't ideal for a grilled dish. The nail in the coffin was the mix-up with a side dish - the waitress tried to convince us that the (clearly) zucchini and pea dish was the green beans we'd ordered. To the restaurant's credit, they didn't charge us for this mistake.

Overall, another disappointing dinner in an otherwise great seaside town!

Having eaten at the Daylesford Frangos & Frangos many times I was very excited to see that the tired old eatery under the Cumberland had been taken over by these guys. I was in for breakfast and unfortunately f&f Lorne was let down by inexperienced and unnecessarily curt waiters. My breakfast order of eggs benedict was misinterpreted as being something completely different and when it came out the waiter told me I ordered wrongly. I’m sorry waiting staff but in hospitality that just doesn’t cut it, fix the problem and satisfy the customer should be your number one priority. Looking forward to trying the dinner options someday, hopefully with the same polite and helpful service we are used to at the f&f daylesford.

Restaurants come and go in Lorne, but this one seems to be destined to stay. Always a difficult gig during the busy tourist season, needing an experienced operator. We visited a few times, with large groups of varying ages and enjoyed each visit. Unfortunately the menu we had souvenired on our first visit did not have the phone number printed on it. No worries - we accessed the website and found a phone number. Shame we ended up booking the original Frangos Frangos in Daylesford! However, Emma was not fazed by the arrival of ten people, cancelled our Daylesford booking, organized a drink and shared pizzas at the bar and less than half an hour later a table for us all at the front with magnificent views of the foreshore. Depending upon your appetite it is quite easy to share some of the plates. Start with the great pizzas and then share slow cooked shoulder of lamb or the modern take on veal schnitzels and coleslaw. Serves are ample for hungry teenage boys! A standout was the Green Pizza - asparagus, zucchini, egg, goats cheese, pesto. Our only complaint would be that the menu did not change over the summer season and there were no "specials" but starting a new place just before a busy season requires tried and true dishes. Wine list terrific and reasonable. Didn't visit for breakfast. Others did and also loved it. Would recommend.
