“Hostess very rude”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

We booked this hotel for a short break last year . The first hostess was extremely rude and listed everything that we could NOT have before even welcoming us! She informed us that linen would not be changedand that that we had one towel each....when we aked her if maybe over the course of the three nights we could get a clean towel each she told us that its not policy and to just hang the ones we have on the bathroom door to dry!!!!! Room was very basic and the corridoors were filthy!
All this could have been overlooked if we had a peaceful stay but the cleaning ladies woke us very early our first morning with loud shouting up and down the corridoors to each other for over an hour. Very unnessessary! Upon check out there was a lovely younger lady but a little late at that stage!!

Booked this place through an Internet discount site. Average room & very uncomfortable bed but handy to the pub (it's right behind it!). Ok for a short stay line ours but wouldn't stay there for an extended holiday.

Stayed there on whim for one night. Most of Lorne was booked up (long weekend), but Comfort Inn had a room, with patio and sea views at a reasonable price. Okay, so the place wasn't five star, but don't expect that. It was clean, with good white cotton bedding - that's always a good sign. Blinds needed some attention, but nothing major. The bathroom was a bit in need of love and attention, but again, everything worked and it was clean. Reception was very friendly. Our patio area was close to the bar at the hotel in front of Comfort Inn - this could be a problem with noise on a busy night so just make sure of where you are located when you check in. Suggest you ask to see your room / room options first. Reception was very willing to show me options. So, if you want a basic place to sleep, close to what matters in Lorne, at a good price with no fuss, this may be the place for you.

Room Tip: Ask to see room options when you arrive - it always helps to check out rooms. Take care of rooms to...

Travelling from Brisbane to Adelaide, stopping at many many motels this was by far the worst.
Booking made in May 2011, for the 23rd January, and we were given a room looking out on a parked van!!!! Clean yes, but broken window so we could.n't open it. We had to keep our curtains closed for privicy. Hostess very rude when we checked out. Accused us of Not liking Australia!!!!! this is our 6th visit and certainly not a place I would go back to or recommend people to stay.

Room Tip: Make sure your travel agent or yourself find out where your room is situated

It was very unfortunate that another guest parked their van outside the writer's room.
This is not the fault of the management, as we have no control over the size of vehicles driven by our guests.
To suggest that they were allocated a room complete with a van parked outside, is unfair, as the van was nothing to do with us, and the guest ( complete with van) drove off the next morning.
It is grossly unfair to state that our 'hostess' spoke to the guest in the manner they suggested. Our staff are professional and polite, even when confronted with difficult situations such as this one.
I am sorry that the guest did not enjoy their experience with us, as we have catered for literally thousands of guests over the summer, and the vast majority comment on how much they enjoyed their stay

We were on our way to see the twelve Apostles and decided on the spur of the moment to stay in Lorne.
The reception at the Comfort Inn was very welcoming and we were quickly booked in to a superb ocean view room with all the comforts of home.
The location of this motel is brilliant, we walked to the beach, shops and restaurants, without using our car once.
The room was clean and comfortable (although some pictures on the walls would have added a nice touch) and I enjoyed watching the cricket on the large flat screen TV.
At the end of a busy day of shopping, swimming and eating, the large spa was relaxing.
I have no hesitation in recommending this motel for travellers along the Great Ocean Road.

Room Tip: The Executive rooms have the best views

We were travelling from Melbourne to Adelaide stopping each night at different motels and this one was by far the worst of all and the most expensive costing $250.00 for one night in a basic room. We arrived on January 2nd - the hottest day of the year with temperatures reaching 42 degrees this being very relevant to our tale. We checked in and were asked to pay which we did but as we left reception were advised by the receptionist not to have a shower the reason being that they had no towels as the said the delivery had not arrived this was at approximately 2.00pm.Every couple of hours we went back to reception to enquire and at 8.00pm still no towels and we noted that on the floor of the carpark there was a huge pile of laundry and we later saw a man rummaging through to find towels which they were laudering themselves. At 10.00pm my husband went to reception again and was given a small hand towel.

Next morning as we were just about to check out of the hotel the man knocked on our door and presented us with another towel - too late as we had to check out by 10.00am. On leaving there was a sign on the reception door saying that they still had no towels and they were very stressed out by it all by this time so were we.

We found the receptionists attitude deplorable and the man accused me of being verbally abusive as I threaten to stop the payment - which I would add did not do. The room itself was basic not very clean with dusty and stained carpets, One of the blinds consisted of just a roller no blind.

At no point was an apology offered and I would not recommend staying here if it was the last motel in Australia.

It was indeed 42 degrees on the day in question. We anxiously awaited the delivery of linen from the laundry some 50 km's away. It normally arrives in the morning.
When it had not arrived by early afternoon I rang the laundry but they did not reply. It transpired that the van had boiled over and returned to the depot. The new driver did not think to alert any of the motels of this fact.
We then "rummaged through the dirty linen bags" (in 42 degree heat) and proceeded to launder them ourselves in our own washing machine. A long and slow process that saw us washing and tumble drying until midnight.
We had 28 rooms of guests who could see the strain and stress we were under. 27 rooms of guests were understanding and could see that we were doing our best to remedy the situation (some even offered to help)
Our English visitors were aggressive and abusive, and totally intolerant of the situation. When towels became available we delivered them to those with babies (on principle, I believe that abusive behaviour does not create results).
As for the carpets, they had all been steam cleaned 3 weeks ago.
We cater for thousands of guests over the summer and the vast majority compliment us on the high standard of the rooms and how much they enjoyed their stay

Hello

My wife and I just recently spent one night at the Comfort Inn Lorne Bay View. We had a number of major and minor issues in regards to the accommodation and would strongly recommend other accommodation sites in Lorne are given priority for your stay.

Issue 1
We had our air conditioner running for maybe ½ an hour and water started leaking down the side. This wet my bag on the ground and clothes in it. We needed to put the rubbish bin underneath it to catch the water. The water continued dripping for ½ an hour after we had turned it off.

Issue 2
The spa was not working. None of the spa settings seemed to work to create bubbles and one jet had no water coming out of it. There was also indents in the bottom of the spa as if someone and repeatedly thrust a knife into it.

Issue 3
The freezer in the fridge was not working. After turning the freezing temperature up to maximum and leaving iceblocks in the freezer over night our iceblocks did not freeze. This effected the food we were freezing.

Issue 4
There was no fry pan or saucepan provided. We had booked a room with a stove top but was unable to use this as we assumed like every other accommodation they would have provided at least one of these.

Issue 5
The blind required fixing. After pulling the blind down there was a major kink right through it. This probably steamed from being misaligned when it was pulled up on a prior occasion and room service should have picked this up.

Issue 6
Leftover food residue was left on a plate. Hence all plates were not trusted and required cleaning.

Issue 7
After discussing some of these issues with the hotel receptionist no discount was given. Only her word that she would have these issues looked at.

I would strongly recommend to anyone interested to look elsewhere.
