No doubt this is Melbournes 2nd best place for steak. Rockpool, to me will always hold that crown. But happy to bestow this restaurant with 2nd place.
The dining room is incredibly dated and not much has changed since i came here for the firs time about 20 years ago. But who cares about the kitchy surroundings when all your really here for is the steak.
I had a rather oily duck sausage for entree which i could have done without. Usually i would have the home made spiced chevapchichi which are just amazing. The steak as mentioned before are sublime and cooked with love. Shame you dont really get much choice for sides with the exception of fries and salad, and no sauces either, only mustards.
Our fries didnt arrive until after we finished the steak and as the place got busier we felt we were more of an inconvenience then a customer. Maybe they were just short staffed that night..
They also have an amazing wine list. Forgetr the little hiccups and go and try the steaks!! Thats an order !
