Description: Once upon a time, In the small leafy town we all know and love as Kew, there lived and worked a young chef by the name of Joshua Clarke, who had been cooking in the kitchens of Kew for many years. One rainy old autumn day, just after a busy lunch service, he was filleting fresh locally caught pinkies for dinner service when he thought to himself, I would really love to create a food establishment in Kew that can offer all the local generations a fun and cultured, food, wine, cheese and coffee experience. Somewhere you can come any time of the day from early morning until night, with simple, seasonal food coming out of the kitchen, freshly ground Allpress coffee pouring through the La Marzocco, beautiful Australian wine, beer, cider and a handful of tasty cocktails. Lil Boy Blue kitchen & bar is now a contemporary new space that has kept the integrity of the beautiful old building. It is a warm, welcoming, casual environment where the old meets the new as soon as you walk through the door. Lil boy blue kitchen & bar is fully licensed for 66 people. Come in for some eats and drinks, relax, listen to some music and watch the world go by. See you soon...

“exciting cafe cuisine hidden behind a nondescript suburban shopfront”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2013

I cannot speak highly enough of the food at Lil Boy Blue. Its fresh, its inventive(kinda fusion), it is flavorsome and its well presented. Tried the tapas nibbles which were all good:softshell crab mini burgers, prawn wraps, quail salad. My dessert was a peach & white chocolate cake.Portions are somewhat small, and prices not cheap.I hear the breakfasts are good as well, and menu definitely not run of the mill.
I like the decor which is quirky, eclectic, modern. If you can, try to get a table at the front room which is brighter and has a better vibe. Service is brisk and friendly. Recommended.
Best to park at rear of Dan Murphys just across the road at the junction

“A gem in the burbs”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2013

Lil boy blue is doing the impossible....breakfast, lunch and dinner. Maybe it's doable but it always seems a big ask. I guess that's up to their capable team to decide whether they are up to it, but as I'm the reviewer it seems a hard ask. Breakfast stops at 12 sharp, with no negotiation ..which is tough if you arrive at 11.55. Otherwise dinner is sensational , the plates either small., medium or large are mouthwatering , with a good wine list and warm service. This is a great place... And with a tiny bit of tweaking could be magical.

“Good food and friendly service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2013

Lil Boy Blue is a really nice place for a casual lunch or breakfast. The menu has a reasonable selection of dishes, the staff are both friendly and helpful and my meal was really good - I chose the Calamari and my friend had the Duck, both were delicious. They do really amazing hot chocolate, not to be missed. I went there on a Friday lunchtime both times, best to book and be careful where you park, there have been recent changes to parking in the immediate area and many are 1 hour where they used to be 2.

“A New Favourite!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

We happened upon Lil Boy Blue by accident, and what a great accident. There are three dining areas - downstairs with street views (and a couple of tables outside), downstairs in the back, and upstairs. We sat downstairs in the front where every table was taken on this Friday lunch. The noise level was high but tolerable. The staff are young, friendly, and efficient. Only open less than a year, we saw many regular customers come and go. We had a daily special of duck leg meat in a delicious salad (a bargain at $17); there's also a duck breast salad in the menu for $22. We also had a dish of four fantastic scallops and four small chunks of crumbed and fried pork belly ($22) that we will definitely get again. Wines start at $50 a bottle, and we had a super Zeppelin Shiraz, along with a nice glass of New Zealand Eradus Sauv Blanc ($10). Every dish we saw go by our table went on our mental list for our next visits. The restaurant is open all day so is perfect for a meal or a drink and a snack. We are hooked in this place!
