“One night is not enough!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2014 via mobile

We had not visited Phillip Island for several years and decided to take our 12 yo son for a few days of beach and relaxation. We stayed at Holmwood for 4 days and were thorougly spoilt by our hosts Jill and Jason. The photos on the website do not do it justice! Luxury and perfect styling make you think you have arrived into the pages of a magazine...but, most importantly, we enjoyed the hospitality and warmth of our hosts, nothing was too much trouble and the breakfast was delicious. We could walk to the beach in a couple of minutes and stroll to the many restaurants and cafes from the guesthouse. We stayed in a studio apartment that had 3 bedrooms, excellent airconditioning ( important as the temperature was in the high 30's every day) and a great kitchenette had we wanted to cook a meal. The bathroom is beautifully equipped with soft towels and organic toiletries. Beds and bed linen were very comfortable too.
All in all, one night is not enough - if you travel here to sightsee or relax, Jill and Jason will look after you superbly.
Thank you for a great few days, we look forward to visiting again soon.

A stunning home surrounded by a beautiful garden only 5 minutes from the heart of Cowes. Fabulous room with great ambience, spacious and modern (loved the home-made biscuits!) Warmly welcomed by great hosts who provided a really tasty breakfast with the best cappuccino in town! Would love to stay again.

We decided to go to Phillip Island at the very last minute. This was the only room available so we decided to go for it even though we are not huge fans of B&B's.

From the moment we arrived, we knew this place was great. You can't beat the location (blocks from the beach and the main street, but super quiet), the garden is fabulous, and our room (in the main guesthouse) was well decorated and comfy. It got better the next morning when we were treated to a fantastic full breakfast.

My first solo stay at Holmwood was just somewhere to stay overnight while I caught up with friends but it was so enjoyable that a couple of months later I returned with my family. We loved it! This time we stayed for a few nights in the Seaside studio. It was perfect; clean, fresh and room for everyone to retreat to their own space for a siesta! Then it was an easy walk to the centre of town for dinner. The main house is so beautifully decorated, the breakfast delicious and the hosts very welcoming! We're planning another visit in the new year!

We drove past many B&Bs on the island but this one immediately sprung out as a place without the multiplex chain feel, and said,"Home" to us. The federation -styled house is set amongst mature gumtrees and a delightful mature front garden surrounded by a picket fence. Unfortunately, there were no guesthouses available on arrival, but we were happy to take the seaside studio which fulfilled our most basic needs and more. The studio itself allowed us to self-cater in this immaculate three bedroom that can accommodate probably four people with nice little touches throughout (see photos on their website). Excellent use of natural light. The beds were super comfortable and warm - an excellent night's sleep was had in the very quiet surrounds (the odd shrill of the kookaburra besides). WiFi was available (fast and strong connection). On the downside, it was a very cold day and it took a few hours for the place to warm up. That being said, the service was super friendly (thanks for the coffees next to the cosy fireplace!), and we'd highly recommend this place.

We booked a night at this guesthouse as part of a trip driving between Sydney and Melbourne and wanted to see the Fairy Penguins on Phillip Island. The accommodation is superb, all the rooms are beautifully decorated and very luxurious! My mother and I had booked a twin room which turned out to be a room with a queen-sized bed and first of all the owner said she would change the room to two twin-beds while we were at the penguin parade, but shortly after decided we could have a room each! Fabulous! We were treated like royalty, the owner was very courteous and friendly, giving us plenty of information about the penguins and anything else we wanted to know.

Breakfast was also included in the room price, which was very enjoyable and very sociable as we were able to chat with the other guests staying in the guesthouse at the same time.

Definitely would return again.

Room Tip: All the rooms are excellent, doesn't matter which one you pick.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Please do come back but next time make it a couple of days so you can enjoy some of the lovely coastal walks the Island has to offer. It would also give you a chance to visit local wineries, the Trout Farm at Rhyll or to take a ferry trip to see the seals at Seal Rock. You might even be lucky enough to see some whales!

We only stayed for 1night at end of October & would recommend staying here, we had a great welcome with some very good advice prior to setting off to see the penguin parade but better than advice we were given blankets !! The penguin parade was fantastic and the warm blankets worked very well, when we got back to the holmwood the log fire was roaring! The bed was so so comfy and the room beautiful with lovely toiletries and excellent breakfast, all in all superb !
