We chose Glen Isla for our stay on Philip Island because of the nice pictures in the net and the B&B fully lived up to it. We arrived in the beautiful garden and were greeted by the host who showed us our room (incl. free port which was refilled for the second night) and gave us inside information about restaurants nearby and managed to organise a table in a very nice one. Also she gave us directions to the beach. She was also very helpful in fetching us some wine and cheese later on.
It turned out that they have a pretty nice dog at the hotel (Nancy) and that one of the trees in the garden was a resting place of about 20-30 lorikeets. They can get noisy during daytime but at night they are sleeping.
The room was big, well furnished, all needed amenities were to be found in the spacious bathroom. We chose the green room so if you do not like green this is not for you. The B&B was quiet and peacefuld and it was a good place to sit on the porch and enjoy the birds in the garden.
All in all Cowes is a good place to stay to see the penguin parade and the Koala sanctuary so I can fully recommend this hotel most of all for the friendliness of our hosts. Then why only 4 points. One half point gets deducted for the location it is a bit too much outside Cowes so walking to the City Center is not fully an option and the selfacclaimed gourmet breakfast was just about what we got in every other B&B the differences were marginal.
One point if you are in Cowes: Everything closes pretty early so going to the penguin parade and having dinner afterwards is not really possible, so either you do it before, at the penguin parade or there is a filling station on the road between Glen Isla and the penguins that has a decent food and beverage assortment.
