A fantastic 3 night stay, great food and perfect rooms with complimentary sherry a welcome addition. Also just 40metres to the beach. Would definitely stay again, Madeleine and Ian are great hosts. Just a short drive from central Cowes with penguins, koalas and surfing also with 20 mins drive.

Thank you for your review - and we're pleased your 3 day stay was a great experience on Phillip Island and at Glen Isla. Great weather at this time of the year to be out and about...

As frequent travellers, over many years, we have fond memories of properties in Europe, UK and the USA where we found hands-on owners and hosts, who were able to provide local knowledge and advice, to make our stay enjoyable.

At Glen Isla, we're always sought to offer an accommodation experience with some personal touches and interaction with our guests, never like a sterile 'hotel' stay...

The swimming beach - just out the back gate from Glen Isla (direct access), is pristine and never crowded. Surf beaches are however on the southern side of the island, but just 20 minutes drive as you say...

We wish you a safe journey in Australia and back to the UK...

A lovely shiplap collection of houses on a manicured estate in an otherwise typical Ozzy town. Very French, cute pond surrounded with old trees. The best place in town to stay if you want atmosphere, great service and wonderfully detailed interior design.

Many of our guests describe Glen Isla House as a 'haven' - set in 2 acres of very private and secluded heritage gardens dating back to the late 1800's, and just 100 metres from a pristine sandy beach!

French? - Indeed we have spent many holidays in France and love the architecture you see in the countryside of France, and yes some of that rubbed off when we were designing Glen Isla House!

Thanks for your review and taking the time to write... We hope to welcome you back to Glen Isla again soon...

We stayed a couple of nights in the Anderson suite. Was luxury. We were well looked after with suggestions on what to do during the day for dining at night. Breakfast is fantastic. There were quite a few people staying the weekend when we were there and the service never reduced. Was a thunderstorm the first night a we were so relaxed we slept through it.

Room Tip: Anderson suite is complete luxury and private

Thanks for taking the time to write a review on Tripadvisor.

Your choice of the Anderson Heritage Suite was an excellent decision - our genuine historic accommodations, originally part of the heritage house dating back to 1870.

We accommodate maximum of 14 guests in our B&B type accommodations to ensure everyone can enjoy the private heritage gardens, and we're able to focus on our special breakfast offering in the dining room. Its seems breakfast at Glen Isla has become somewhat of a legend over the past 9 years with many guests commenting on Tripadvisor and in our guestbook about their wonderful breakfast experience...

Thanks again, and we look forward to welcoming you to Glen Isla House again soon...

We've stayed in many 'boutique' hotels all over the world and seldom have they lived up to their aspirations. Glen Isla House is everything a good hotel should be and more.

The original19th century house and gardens are picture perfect and the more recent hotel rooms added to the grounds blend in seamlessly to enhance the scene. The overall feel is that of an oasis of refined tranquillity.

The decor is sympathetic to the age and character of the hotel without being fussy or chintzy. Everything in the well designed, tasteful and spotless rooms whispers quality and what's more it all works.

We only met Madeleine on our overnight stay and the welcome she gave us was refreshingly genuine and warm.

Top all of this off with the fabulous breakfast and we've found somewhere we will revisit.

Andrew, we really appreciate your feedback and comments!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review...

Like you, we have stayed at many small boutique hotel properties all over the world over the past 30 years, and Glen Isa House represents our best endeavors to create the experience that we think discerning guests are seeking, and is of course based on our own travels and experiences...

Our philosophy has always been to treat our guests - just as we would hope to be treated when staying away from home.

We hope to see you again soon here at Glen Isla....

I know others have said it already, but what a lovely way to spend our wedding anniversary. Ian and Madeleine are the perfect hosts and Glen Isla House is the most beautiful accommodation. The lovely lounge with fireplace made it very tempting to stay inside all day and that was after we had already lingered longer than we needed to after the very nice breakfast, but we had to go outside to meet Nancy. What a great dog! We are lucky such a lovely place is only a hour from home, makes it easier to come back.

What a great weekend away. By far the BEST place for a romantic escape.
Glen Isla House is steeped in delicious history, wrapped in a warm welcome... and then offers a breakfast other establishments can only dream about. I would come here for the gourmet breakfast alone, but the beautiful surrounds match the food... and what could be better than that? As a writer, I couldn't wish for a better stop, for inspiration and historical detail.
Why did it take me so long to discover this gem of a guest house? Ian and Madeleine are the perfect host couple. Glen Isla House is blessed to have such passionate custodians of history at the garden gate, and every other corner of this beautifully presented property.

What a lovely weekend we had at Glen Isla House. A perfect setting to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Beautiful grounds and beautiful accommodation along with exceptional hosts to make sure you have everything you need and are equipped with some local knowledge. My only regret about the whole experience is that we didn't stay longer.
The breakfast has got to be one of the best we've ever had, so much attention to detail which I know is probably wasted on some people, but it goes a long way in my book. And I have to mention Nancy, what a gorgeous companion, so glad we met her. Shame about the weather but it certainly didn't spoil our weekend. Thanks Ian & Maddie we will definitely be back......
