We visited on Saturday for a special birthday with some friends from the UK. Small and cosy venue (fire was lit which was a bit warm but made it cosy) service was good, food choice good, tasty too. We ate locally produced food. The sausages I had were very dense and heavy, a bit too much, but presentation was spot on.
We all enjoyed our evening and we will definitely be back for another visit when in the area.

The lunch food was terrible. Battered fish had no flavour at all and the attempt at some weird batter was amateur at best. Both my wife and son could not eat the fish as it was so bland. The spiced chicken burger. Wow, well a first for me, spice means a slice of salami with some fried dry chicken. This restaurant is serving very basic tasteless food at high prices for what you get. We would not recommend this restaurant and well not be returning. On a good note my other 2 kids did like the kids chicken tacos but was not enough food. For 5 of us including 4 soft drinks $117. We all agree better value and taste is at McDonald's compared to this restaurant.

Given all the great reviews and given it was an Easter weekend with many, many people in Cowes for the long weekend, we were able to get at table without booking.

It was very well appointed (set up as more than your average restaurant in Cowes) and the staff were extremely attentive and friendly. But the food was average, (not bad but just needed to be a little more flavoursome, imaginative or different). We ordered the Duck Spring Rolls (Ok, but nothing better than the Thai restaurant around the corner). We also ordered the Garlic Pizza with parmesan cheese and fresh herbs (for $12 we kind of expected more than just a flat bread with cheese and herbs (but in fairness it was better than it looked), and we also ordered the fish and chips). Whilst the fish was better than you would get at a take away place it was not, by any stretch of the imagination, something to 'write home about'. In addition to this we purchased a bottle of red wine (good value for money at $30 a bottle, along with a glass of champagne each - also good value for money'. Whilst the food was OK (it was nothing you couldn't get elsewhere on the Island) we could not fault the service and the fact that the restaurant was a lot more presentable (up-market) than other restaurants in Cowes.

Would we go back again.......need to think about that as the menu was lacking (imagination) and the cost was also over the $100 mark (but in fairness included wine and champagne), it just needs something to make it more interesting/different from what is on offer at Cowes currently. Nothing we had was outstanding, they need to serve something that no one else in Cowes can serve and make it their signature dish.

I appreciate that restaurants in Cowes need to make sure they cover themselves during the 'down period' (along with employing staff and all other on-costs) but it just needs to do something to make it stand out above other establishments already in the area.

Visited this restaurant twice in the last 6 weeks - both times walked in off the street. This is not a cheap restaurant the ambiance, service and food quality reflect this. The first time I chose Beef cheeks (the days special) and they were 'to die for' and my partner chose fish and chips that he really enjoyed. The next time I chose the fish and chips that did not disappoint and my partner chose chicken and we shared 6 oysters kilpatrick. All delicious.
