“Terrible- reccomend Sherwoods instead”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2013

After lineing up for allmost an hour, then waiting another 3/4 of an hour ( didn't really mind this as was very busy) Was brought the fattiest piece of steak it has ever been my displeasure to endure. Most was totally inedible. When I could eventually find a floor staff member to complain to, was told it was too late ( due to the excessive waiting time) to do anything about.
Overpriced for a restruant let alone a rsl bistro. Luaghed when they adverstise on the big screen to " rate on trip advisor". So here it is.
Never again

Hi Steve
we are somewhat astounded by your comments regarding a 2 hour wait for your meals and currently investigating this. Our reputation for our steaks is unquestionable and would like more details as to what meal you ordered. We do acknowledge that particularly during school holidays, wait times can be longer than normal. We also agree that Sherwoods is an excellent local restaurant

“It's a bistro, not fine dining”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2013

Since the demise of the Isle of Wight Hotel, Cowes lacks a suitable large venue for pub grub. The Lone Pine Bistro at the RSL is the best alternative. There are some other cafes and restaurants in town, which do a good job, but the Lone Pine stands out as the largest, most comfortable and accessible bistro available. The decor is pleasant and modern. The staff are always immaculately dressed in an attractive uniform, and they are invariably polite and pleasant to me. The cleanliness of the dining room, kitchen and toilets is of a high standard. The menu is fairly extensive, with a range of options for seniors and kids, and there are daily specials on the TV screens mounted on the walls. At lunchtime there is an additional menu with light lunch options. So, in terms of options, Lone Pine Bistro tries to please all diners.
I go there all the time - it is my 'local'. The meals are tasty and well presented, but not exceptional. Went there last night with a group of friends and we had a great time. Everyone was happy with their meals, and the Monday night special was "Two for One", so it cost us very little. Some items on the menu are a bit pricy - $32.00 for a steak, $29.00 for altantic salmon, but the diversity of the menu allows diners to order according to their budget. It was a busy night, and yes, the service was slower than normal.

“Great family restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2013

With twin 16 month olds, play equipment and highchairs are a priority for us when eating out. The Lone Pine restaurant is therefore perfect for our needs. The play area is small, with no gate, but perfect for young kids to run around in. The staff are young and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food is great value with the special members deals - two for one meals and $10 parmigiana (which my partner highly rates). There are no vegan main options for myself, but there are very reasonably priced side dishes including salads and rice.

Overall, I rate Lone Pine very highly for families with young kids
