We spent 2 nights at the Hollywood Hotel for a short get away at the end of the school holidays. I liked the idea of the hotel's history as it is where Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner stayed when thye filmed "On the beach." The rooms have been 'renovated" about 5 years ago, we stayed in a family room. But as I walked up the the the stairs that were in a state of decay I was quite worried about the condition of the room. Despite the age of the hotel the room was very clean and met our needs- King size bed in separate room and a single and Queen sized sofa bed in the living area. TV reception was very limited as the aerial was only bunny ears and there was no breakfast on offer. The room was not serviced during our stay, though fresh towels were offered. The pool was good in the hot weather, but the room was not aircondtioned and despite box fans being provided we did not sleep well due to the heat.
We would not stay here again but it was cheap which seemed a good idea at the time.
