Having a place in Silverleaves for the last 20 years I have seen the Silverleaves store grow from a humble corner shop to what it had now. We have also visited it on many occasions for coffee and snacks and sometimes meals.
Today we had the worst breakfast I can ever remember having ANYWHERE. I had the omlette with smoked salmon on a bed of spinach. My wife had eggs with hollandaise sauce and spinach. To start with both serves of spinach were wet, soggy and not properly washed. We both crunched through sand and dirt. It also had absolutely no flavour what so ever. The grass breath our table would have been tastier. Because the spinach was ago soggy it made everything else on the plate wet and soggy also. Didn't matter much as ever omlette was bland and the hollandaise sauce was runny like water. I am 99% sure it was a generic no name brand rather than freshly made. How anyone can charge $18 and $16 respectively for this rubbish is a travesty. I can understand prices in quaint niche cafes (with no competition around) but quality of the food must reflect it.
On a slightly positive note the coffee was still good (obviouy not made but the person who cooks) and the fruit toast and banana bread with yoghourt and fruit eas also good but I guess it is hard to ruin something already prepared (and slap some butter and yoghourt on it).
So, if you want coffee and snacks that definitely try the Silverleaves store, but if you want edible food then go into Cowes.

Fresh Gluten Free food in abundance, gluten free beer, plenty of wines to choose from and all at a very reasonable price. The setting is lovely, ambience 'old world' charm and they make a very good coffee. Staff are friendly and knowlegable in dietary concerns. A must visit!

The staff were lovely when we came in whilst they were closing. They happily served us and we had an enjoyable meal in a lovely country feeling cafe. We will happily go back next time we are visiting Phillip island.

Whenever we are down at Phillip Island we eat at Silverleaves Cafe - it is our absolute favourite on the Island.

Even though we aren't a resident on the Island we are treated like a local and remembered from previous visits providing that extra level of service that you don't experience at many other Cafes anymore.

Food is always fantastic in particular their Eggs and Bacon and coffee is honestly the best and most consistent on the Island.

On our most recent visit with a family member who has very specific dietary requirements they were able to cater for her and also took the time to explain what food she could eat and the ingredients it contained which made eating out for her much easier.

Atmosphere is very relaxing due to the location and also the staff/owners seem happy for you to relax/take your time and enjoy the experience.
