Pleasant walking around. Would be even nicer when roses are in full bloom. Cafe at Art Galley was very good. Ceramic Mural across the lake was interesting to have a look at.

Benalla is blessed with a lovely Botanic Garden - we enjoyed our break there during a journey up the Hume Highway. Some great old trees, a picturesque cricket ground and a nice walk around the lake - we would recommend it as a break in your journey. Afterwards we'd also recommend a trip to the Main Street Cafe in Bridge Street (a couple of blocks away from the Gardens) - really great food there (and after your walk around the gardens it's a nice treat!)

The gardens at Benalla are pleasant all year round, but exceptionally beautiful in November/December when all the roses are in bloom and perfume fills the air. Also of interest is the statue of Weary Dunlop and another war hero (whose name escapes me) both originally from this area.

A pleasant place to while away half an hour en route to Sydney from Melbourne.

You can enjoy a drink or snack at the adjacent art gallery.
