Apollo Bay Backpackers

We were booked in for one night. Upon arriving we could not locate the manager. The building was dirty, messy and did not resemble the photos on the website. We left as the management was not around and found somewhere else to stay. Called management who insisted they were 'out e back' and stated we would be charged the full amount.

This place was filty, even for a backpackers. I'm glad we chose not to stay, reading the other reviews. Management on the phone were rude, unforgiving, would not listen. Would not recommend to anyone.

We stayed in September 2012 in a 5-shared bedroom: old mastresses, dirty room and broken window (which we had to cover with curtains and towels in order not to get frozen). Moreover, there was no wireless in the room, and the heating was minimum. In addition, we were shocked to see a couple of bugs in our room, most of them spiders.

To my surprise, I stayed alone in the room one morning, and I saw how the owner came in it to switch off the minimum heater we had in order to save money! -_-

About the bathroom, as my fellows state, there was no heater in it, being a quite cold place for having a shower if you visit during the winter months.

The hub or house area was the only thing normal in that hostel, with a nice kitchen, sofas, heating and table.

Room Tip: Don't choose room 3: window broken!

We stayed in a separate house where 8 people could stay. There was no wi-fi here, we had to go to the main house. The mattress was a bit old and there was no heating in the bathroom, which is VERY cold if you stay here in winter.
Nice, fully equipped kitchen. TV and lots of sitting space in the shared area. Heating in here worked very well!

A clean, tidy and well maintained backpacker inn. What makes it even better is the friendly uncle who runs the backpackers! A place that welcomes with arms wide open! Two thumbs up!
