Daggy and dated, very tired and neglected but I understand the owner wants to demolish, rebuild and renovate but waiting to find out what hoops they to jump through and red tape to cut. The rooms are clean, the bed was fine, fantastic hot water pressure, minimal condiments, daily room servicing and really good value for money. It's a short walk to The Gulch and the town centre. Had a great breakfast at the White Dog Café, poached eggs, smoked salmon mushrooms & toast for $15, not at all stingy, couldn't eat it all. Rocky at reception is great - hlepful, friendly and informative. Rooms prices vary at $99 (no sea view), $110 (best sea view & a bath for relaxing), but the decks are decaying, and $130 for a good view and more modern rooms. But no shade over the porches so you fry in the sun if want to sit outside. Some of the outdoor chairs are fairly shabby too, couldn't snib the sliding door screen locked so we couldn't leave the room open to air in the warm weather. It has a licensed café with a roomy deck area (but no shade) but there are a couple of picnic benches nearby under a huge Christmas type tree. Yes, there could be a few things to help it along to entice people to stay, solar lights, shade, sail shades etc, but again and understandably, the owner isn't willing to spend money unnecessarily until they know what they can do. Funnily enough, there people were at reception wanting to get rooms as they weren't happy with the rooms or service at the Beachfront. Niggly little things but I'm sure improvements will be made.
