“Clean and cosy but bathroom not fit for claustrophobes”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2014

Cabins and decor are tired but overall, rooms are clean and linen provided. Bathrooms are quite tight but again was clean so not a complaint here. Cabins have kitchenette and living space is separated from sleeping which is pleasant, giving the sense of space. Convenient place to stay particularly for penguin tours :)

As the new Manager of the Park, this feedback is extremely important.

In the upcoming months it is aimed for a complete review of each of the cabins to be undertaken and what works can be achieved to eliminate any "tiredness".

Your feedback about the cleanliness of your cabin has been passed onto the cleaners, who take immense pride in their work; and who have passed their appreciation back for your kind comments.

From Management and Staff - Thank you for choosing to stay at Bicheno East Coast Holiday Park!!!

We had 2 young children below 3 yrs old and the new manager was extremely accommodating.

The staff were friendly, amenities clean and the camp site neat and tidy.

A stone throw from all the local shops.

Highly recommended

Stayed on the one of two planned nights thanks to some terribly strong winds that hit the whole of Tasmania over that period.

Nicely layed out, no need to take coins to have showers and good facilitates.

Hope to go back there again.

Thanks

We arrived lateish but this was no issue for the staff. We stayed in one of the newer cabins, and they were well appointed, and had just about everything that we needed. An outdoor setting with a couple of chairs is probably the only thing missing, as we had a little deck to sit out on. My parents stayed in one of the older cabins, but they also had no complaints and were more than happy with what they got, especially for the price over the New Year period. One suggestion for the owners would be to chain a couple of "Barbie Mates" to the BBQ so anyone using them could give them a scrape prior to cooking.

The park is in close proximity to the supermarket, the couple of takeaway food shops available, and most importantly, the beach.

Overall, we were more than happy with this place. No frills, but at the same time, it's far from the most basic holiday park I've stayed at either.

Thank you for your feedback. 3 piece setting's have now been purchased for the decks of the "blue" cabins, and BBQ Mate's have also been purchased for the BBQ area!

Very warmly welcomed upon arrival by the owners, given a lot of info at check in. Stayed in a 1 bed cabin with hubby & 11mth old. Baby slept in our portacot in the "living room". Small cabin but adequate. One heater in cabin was adequate for warmth. Only minor problem was that there was only 2 plates, 2 bowls, 2 lots of cutlery etc so we were washing up frequently. Overall a pleasant stay - would stay there again.

Nice and clean! We stayed in a caravan in June, no spectacular views or scenery. Little wildlife contact. The bathrooms are clean and no annoying 5 minute showers! :) Close vicinity to the local coffee shop and small supermarket (IGA). Close to the a walking track, we saw the 'blowhole' which isn't that spectacular in my opinion. Was disappointed to see no penguins!
However if you are looking for a quick stopover, this caravan park is an option.

After reading other reviews we were comfortable that this would be a no frills but friendly and welcoming place to stay, unfortunatley our experience was to the contrary. We arrived into a virtually empty park and checked in with the two managers (husband & wife) who run the place. Both seemed relaxed, unhurried, bored and not overly friendly or helpful. Having had somewhat of a hard/busy day knocking off work early and packing, organising kids and travelling we were looking forward to a nice relaxing time. Outside of being given little information on what to do in the area we were VERY disappointed that of the four beds in our little and aging cabin, only one was made up - the only bed that was, was the easy one to make, the others were all awkward and difficult - thankfully I was able to make them up as neither my kids or my wife (who is suffering from a debilitating condition) would have been able to do so. Linen was provided for two more beds which was all we needed but it took the first 40 minutes of my time to relax there to make up the remaining beds we required - thank goodness we didn't arrive late with tired kids!!! Also disappointing was the fact that there were 8 or so new looking cabins ALL of which were unoccupied and could have been offered to us & others given the lack of occupancy at the site (a common practice in the Tourism Industry to encourage word of mouth recommendation). With the East Coast looking to encourage people to visit the area after the bushfires (which really haven't affected the area at all from a tourists perspective) we had hoped the operators themselves woul be behind this and go out of their way to encourage positive comments, not the case here. We'll certainly visit the area again but will not contemplate this accommodation again!
