“A great place to stopover for a couple of nights.”
Reviewed January 5, 2012

We stayed in a one bedroom cabin during the new year's eve weekend. We stayed expecting new year's eve would be noisy however when we returned to the park just after 1.00am there was not a sound to be heard other than the waves lapping on the sand at the beach which is a 5 minute walk away. The park is very clean and well run with many amenities. If staying on an unpowered tent site there is available a well equipped recreation room with cooking facilities, a refrigerator etc. Our one bedroom cabin was small, basic but very clean and nicely furnished. The only negative aspect was that there is no decking outside the door to set up a table and chair for eating outside or for sitting in the sun. Immediately outside the door is where you have to park your car. The two bedroom cabins all appeared to have their own little outdoor deck area. The park is right in the centre of the town where there is an excellent supermarket, newsagency, bakery, pharmacy, butcher and several very good eating places. A safe family beach is five minutes walk from the park and there are lots of options for nice walks around the town.

We stayed in one of the newer units and found it spacious and well equipped. The owners were in the midst of renovating the office but were welcoming when we arrived.

Our only gripe about the place was the laundry could have had longer opening hours. Otherwise a nice place to stay.

The park is right in town. Other review said 1 dryer, still 1 dryer, 3 x washing machines?!? We RV'd. Staff were friendly when we asked to move site (were put next to BBQ & all night light, when the park empty). Penguin tour next door was average, they told us on tour the season was nearly over... But still took our $. The park is close to everything like IGA, cafe, and a all-in-1 general store.

stayed in Caravan park. Did not live up to expectations. 1 drier for entire park which was broken. Managers were rude, abusive, threatening and not caring. Toitet doors did not close so a stranger accidentally walked in on my son while on the toilet.

A lesson learned in getting what you pay for! We booked this room as much of the accommodation in Bicheno was booked out. The room was spacious, and had all the amenities you would require when holidaying, which was good. But it had an awful cleaning agent smell that was horribly overpowering. The bed was quite uncomfortable! TV reception was pretty terrible, but, as the sign says in the room, it's the best they can get.

Not an overly horrible stay, residents of the park mostly seemed friendly (with the exception of one domestic argument taking place in a nearby caravan/campsite). Just don't expect anything flash, and probably would recommend more toward families on a budget (they had bunk beds also in the room).

Next time we would spend just a little more and stay somewhere nicer than here.

Bicheno east coast holiday park is an average campervan site with nice, modern cabins and permanent caravans. It is well set out and central to what is left of Bicheno Town, and only about 5 minutes from the beach. The cabins are very new and modern, most are in a seperate area to the rest of the park. The camper van sites and average size but not private at all, there is hardly anything separating you from the other sites. The toilets/bathrooms are nice as well, although they could do with a few more. There are only 4 combined shower/toilet rooms in the main campsite. This would have been a nice, if not average holiday park, if it werent for the owners laid back and hands off aproach to running the park, as a result of this there were no camp rules what so ever. We were plagued by children playing on the playground opposite our site until well past 10pm, and after they went to bed, a noisy crowd of adults gathered on the road outside our van. The owners/manager need to take control and set some basic rules for their tourist park, such as quiet after 10.30 pm perhaps.
All in all, a nice, well laid out tourist park, but I would avoid during peak season if you value sleep at all.

We stayed for two nights with friends in two bed cabin which was surprisingly spacious, very comfortable and fully self contained. The holiday park is located in the heart of the small town and a short stroll to the beach. Bicheno is a lovely seaside town with a couple of great restaurants - don't just "pass thru".
