“Prisoner of War camp...”
Reviewed May 9, 2012

Although clean, the rooms are dated. The rules are very strict - like as though you are a prisoner of war - VERY offputting. Customer service? What service, the keys were just thrown at me with a grunt saying our room was, 'Over there down the yard.' as she turned back into the office. What restaurant? All in darknes at 7pm. Probably a good job too as the choices on the menu were poor and high priced. We went into Naracoorte to the pizza house and had a nice pizza instead. In the morning, check-out. Again, with a man this time, customer service - nil... Grunted, took key and went back into office so we just left.

Room Tip: Just don't go here! There are other, more friendly B&Bs around.

Thank you for the feed back. Had our staff treated any Guest as suggested they would no longer have employment here . this has not been the case. The only "rules" we provide in our rooms relate to health regulations re : pets and smoking in rooms. Also the enviomental water and power saving measures as every property does. The other information in the compendium relates to local features and our operational hours. As to our restaurant we take bookings but on a quiet night if every one drives out we don't run the power all night long.

Although the room was clean and the furnishings relatively new the rooms are poorly designed with the only available power point in the bathroom. The information package contained such an explicit set of rules that it left you wondering who on earth had the room before you! Miserliness was poorly disguised as ecology with signs to turn off lights, TV, aircon and pump packs attached to the wall instead of individual toiletries. This wouldn't have been so bad except that they were difficult to use and I draw the line at washing myself in a detergent labelled Shower gel/conditioning shampoo. There is a restaurant but I would not recommend eating there - my lambs shank was still frozen and had to be returned to the kitchen, it was reheated and sent out again, my friend ordered the vegetarian pasta, which was tomato sauce on pasta. I reluctantly agreed to having an additional drink to compensate for sending the meal back, because the gentlemen who served us said his wife insisted and that was what they always did when there was a problem, however, when we looked at the bill later they had charged us for it. We were charged full price for both meals. Room service is available, but I'm not sure where you would eat a meal other than sitting on the bed, and the rules were very explicit about the heavy penalties should the room not be left in pristine condition. Luckily we only stayed one night - we would not choose to stay there again.

Thank you for your feed back , we always encourage accurate feed back but on this occasion there are a few points that we need to clarify.

With regards to power points in the room they are by the desk also by the fridge and the beds, we feel that is a sufficient amount of choice for usage.

There was an issue with the lamb shank and the Guest was offered a complimentary drink while a FRESH meal was prepared . Complimentary means just that but we double checked the account and the drinks were definitely not charged . As for the (tomato sauce ) on the pasta . Our cook prepares a Napolitana sauce with tomato's , herbs and stock from scratch , it does not contain any tomato sauce.

Stayed here for work purpose during the field days at Lucindale. It was recommended to us as a good for value. We initially booked 4 rooms but had to cancel one, only 10 days out and was advised we would still have to pay for it which I understood, but they did advise they would try to re-let the room. On arrival the sign showed the hotel was full. I enquired on check- in that they had re-booked the room and was Told they were full so yes.
We decided to eat in the restaurant as we were working 12 hour days and on the first two nights the restaurant was quiet and food and service great, but slightly expensive (chicken schnitzel plus sauce was $23) then salad or veg was an extra $3.50!!
On the Saturday night we met friends and had pre-booked but was told that we hadn't booked but they could pull 2 tables together if we really wanted to stay!!
When we finally had our order taken we were told that they were really busy and only the chef and the managers were working (2 people) and they had room service to sort out too.....
When the main course came they forgot mine completely (chicken schnitzel) and when it came out it was crispy on the outside but soft mushy and raw inside! I eventually was able to get the managers attention and got a replacement meal only to have the centre also raw!
We had to check out that night as we were leaving at 7 am and they didn't open until 8 and the manager complained to us he had no time to finalize the account, so I had to add it up, but he had joined all 3 rooms and meals into one account when we did advise we wanted separate accounts, again we had to work it all out for him, which even the. He billed us wrong.
Then to add insult to injury two weeks after, I was charged for the extra room for 4 nights even though it appeared they had resold it! When I rang to query it I was told that was the hotels policy!

Room Tip: Don't pay extra for the spa room, half don't work! If you stay drive into town to the pubs f...

It's very disappointing to our property when situations are misrepresented so we would like to clarify some points.
When a multiple room booking is made for a special event a 14 day cancellation policy applies so if you cancel within that time you are required to pay for the booking .
We do our best to re sell rooms but as in this case we were unable to do so. The enquiries we did have required more beds than were available. So our full house sign was not on as we were not full
The Guest made a booking for 3 people for dinner as had been for the previous 2 nights but arrived with more people so we reset the table to accommodate the larger group, no comment was made as has been suggested .Unfortunately one of the meals was undercooked and a replacement meal was cooked and fully consumed.
As on previous nights the charges were applied to one account , we were then informed that the bill had to be split to other accounts so the guest had to tell us what charges needed to be charged to the other accounts. this process takes a few minutes to make the adjustments. Again no comment was made as has been suggested.

I checked the internet rate then when I arrived they charged me considerbly more. I was expecting a refurbished room for the rate but to my surprise it was an old run down room with filthy carpets an iron older than I am with electolocus on it.The staff member at reception was not helpful at all and somewhat arrogant.I know accommodation is limited in this town but I think a local pub would be a safer bet. I wouldn't normally say this but if I was forced to stay in this motel again I would drive the 80k's to Bordertown.

We were surprised at how expensive our one night stay was. We couldn't remember being told the cost of our room on arrival, so should have asked. As it was an older, shabby motel we had assumed (wrongly) it would be a cheap stay. We had been travelling around SA and everywhere else had modern facilities,in town and close to facilities, with a swimming pool etc. Our night here cost $100.00 more than anywhere else. We were charged $160.00 for our spa room (mid week stay + advertised on this web-site as $145.00) 2 course meal,(with bits of broken plastic in the soup) 2 drinks and breakfast each added another $137.50. First and last time staying at a Comfort Inn Motel.

Lovely clean room with plenty of space. Refurbished inside. Sprayed with terrible perfume spray which reacted with my asthma. You need a car to go into town but convenient for visiting the caves and local attractions.

Room was clean- that's the only positive. Rooms were run down, furnishings were so old they were falling apart. Bed was very old and lumpy. Bathroom sink was cracked and only supplied with sachets of 2 in 1 shampoo & conditioner. Walls were so thin we could hear everything next door. EVERYTHING. Staff were bordering on rude- like we'd inconvenienced them. Room was $122 a night and should not have been more than $80. Restaurant closed early so we couldn't get dinner and everything in naracoorte was closed by 8 pm except Subway. Disasterous stay. Do not stay here.
